Publisher's summary

A killer remains at large...

Carlotta Wren's world is crumbling beneath her well-shod feet. One of her closest friends has been arrested as the Charmed Killer, but Carlotta refuses to believe it. And to prove her friend's innocence, Carlotta goes against her boyfriend Peter's wishes and resumes her after-hours body-moving duties.

And then...

Peter pressures her for an answer to his proposal...

Her troubled brother Wesley goes missing...

And the madman stalking the city strikes again, this time a little too close to home.

But when Carlotta finds herself in the clutches of the Charmed Killer, is she destined for her own body bag?

Please use Southern narrators for Southern settings!

This narrator is talented but it’s a miscast. Those of us who live in America can hear a Canadian accent right away. And those of us living in the South feel like fingernails are scratching a chalkboard when we hear a Canadian reading a book set in Atlanta, Georgia! Imagine having a person from Georgia reading something set in Canada! I’ll never understand this. I’m forging on because I like the stories, but every time she says, “garage” I feel like I’ve been zapped! Lol

Maureen jones is the WORST narrator

This narrator cannot even pronounce the word garage. She also makes the character peter sound like he's got a stick up his behind and a total dork. Jacks voice sounds female and there are several other words she couldn't pronounce properly but the main one being in garage

There's a lot to unpack here

I bought the first five books of this series with the previous narrator Cassandra Campbell. Campbell's a good narrator (she reminds me a bit of Johanna Parker from the Sookie Stackhouse series), but she works without a net or proofer so I had some issues with her. (Chik-Fil-Ah? REALLY? ) In addition, the series seemed at the time to have stopped at 5 books and we were all left hanging. Unhappy doesn't really cover how I felt about the situation. I didn't notice until recently that there were finally more books out and that they'd all be re-recorded.
Maureen Jones is a fine narrator, but feels maybe too mature for the under 30 Carlotta. Also, as many have pointed out, she's Canadian. Or, if she isn't...she gives a great imitation. She can do some Southern, but is sparing with it - which really does work for Atlanta. So many here either aren't from here or have had the accent educated out of them. And, again, a local proofer would have been good. We don't say Ponce de Leon in a rational way down here, but Ms. Jones, unfortunately, does.

What I do like about her is her comic timing. She sees a joke and can deliver it. (I do like her work much more in Coma Girl than in this series though)

The series itself? It's both compelling and drawn out. Six books is a long time to still not decide between three men.
But - I've listened to 1-6 back to back because I really want to know who she'll choose.

Ms. Bond is a very funny lady and she can craft a solid mystery. Even her darkest characters seem to have a light side, which makes it a little harder to hate the villainous ones. Honestly though, there are times I just want to shake Carlotta or Wesley by the shoulders until their teeth rattle. Those presents are still under that damn sad tree? What?

Anyway - I'm very glad I found the series again once it was finished (At least, I think it's finished) because the books are cliffhangers and I don't have that kind of patience. Unlike Carlotta. So if you don't have nine credits, don't venture here until you do.

Finally find out the Charmed Killer!

I feel like several plot lines where tied up just as more were opened. I'm ready for more!

Pretty Good

As always, there is lot going on in this book and Carlotta puts herself in the middle. She is still bouncing in between men and trying to help her brother Wes. Although Carlotta's life is messy, the mystery still remains the main focus and is well written. I will probably read the next book.

Great

This is a great series the only problem which made me twitch was the narrator giving Hannah a high pitched valley girl for a voice
