Publisher's summary

Four women - four friends - share a determination to stop a killer who has been stalking newlyweds in San Francisco. Each one holds a piece of the puzzle: Lindsay Boxer is a homicide inspector in the San Francisco Police Department, Claire Washburn is a medical examiner, Jill Bernhardt is an assistant D.A., and Cindy Thomas just started working the crime desk of the San Francisco Chronicle.

But the usual procedures aren't bringing them any closer to stopping the killings. So these women form a Women's Murder Club to collaborate outside the box and pursue the case by sidestepping their bosses and giving one another a hand.

1st to Die is the start of a blazingly fast-paced and sensationally entertaining new series of crime thrillers.

And Make It Quick!

The poor narration detracts significantly from an otherwise decent story. (Per the reviews, the Unabridged version is much better.)

Great Story

I started watching Womens Murder Club and when I found out this was the book that started it all I wanted to start from the begining. The story was great nice action, very detailed. Story kept you guessing everytime you thought you knew what was going to happen next you were wrong.

Most Disturbing & sick read. No entertainment here

Disgusting and gruesome serial killings that I couldn't imagine let alone be entertained by.
Not only did it describe disgusting killings about brides in detail..but it kept on describing one after another.
There is no shower for the mind to rid of such disgust.
I will never purchase another story from this author..

Good suspense

I am a fan of James Patterson, therefore I have an expectation when I read his books. This was a good read. I am normally good at predicting "who done it", this one had a few turns in it which had me thinking a little harder. I enjoy that level of suspense. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a murder mystery.

Great first to a great series

I started reading this series years ago then couldn't find the rest of the series. I love this series and was excited to find it in audiobook form. I can't wait to finish the series.

Narrators had no affect

The story was good but the monotone voices of the 2 narrators almost made it boring. Lots of extra words too especially in descriptors, ex the detective had a nervous & anxious stomach and needed to add it was like Mexican jumping beans. Excessive pleonasm. Too bad, the story was interesting.
