Publisher's summary

"Never make someone a priority in your life when you are only an option in their life." - Maya Angelou

"Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm, but the harm [that they cause] does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves." - T. S. Eliot

"Stay away from lazy parasites, who perch on you just to satisfy their needs, they do not come to alleviate your burdens, hence, their mission is to distract, detract and extract, and make you live in abject poverty." - Michael Bassey Johnson

Great information!

I enjoyed continuing to gain knowledge about narcissism. However, I would disagree that only 1% of population are narcissist. Seems like there a lot more than that. Enjoyed the book overall!

In the middle of breaking free...

In the middle of Breaking Free, I have found Clarity and help with this book. I'm currently two months into divorcing my narcissist, after 7 years of marriage. Before my narcissist I was strong and confident, people were drawn to me because I was unshakable. My narcissist woad me with what seemed peace and sincerity. However, just after marriage, the financial abuse began. My credit supported his startup company, and as I began to fall farther and farther away from Financial Security, I began to question what he was doing. For years and years I would bail him out, this just left him embarrassed, but not ever willing to change. So in turn, he began to take away everything that I found enjoyable. He would taint anything that brought a smile to my face with words and actions of Destruction. I began to feel worthless and undeserving of joy. This spilled over onto my children and my relationship with them. August 2018, while my children were away visiting family, I finally regained clarity of who I was and what I wanted for my life. The abuse, both physically and mentally, is that its all-time high. My strength comes from knowing who I am in Christ, and arming myself with sound wisdom and separation from my narcissist. He has turned many people against me with his lies, and I am thankful that these people, who are so easily suede by his sweet talk, are out of my life also. My children are still with other family members as I heal. Doing the things that this book recommends daily, helps me to regain the confidence and joy that I once had. I finally recognize myself in the mirror again. Although imperfect, I love myself again. I am thankful for this book, as it has provided clarity on actions to take to guard my heart and my well-being from people like my current narcissist.
