Publisher's summary

Many consider Evangeline Hamilton cursed. Orphaned at a young age and possessing a pair of mismatched eyes - one bright blue, the other dark brown - Eva has fought to find her way in a world that constantly rejects her. Yet the support of even one person can help overcome the world's judgments, and Eva has two - Seth and Zach, two former orphans she now counts as brothers.

Seeking justice against the man who stole his birthright and destroyed his family, Logan Fowler arrives in 1880s Pecan Gap, Texas, to confront Zach Hamilton, the hardened criminal responsible for his father's death. Only instead of finding a solitary ruthless gambler, he discovers a man not much older than himself with an unusual family.

When Zach's sister, Evangeline, insists on dousing Logan with sunshine every time their paths cross, Logan finds his quest completely derailed. Who is truly responsible for his lost legacy, and will restoring the past satisfy if it means forfeiting a future with Evangeline?

Cute Idea .. Not The Best Narration

As a huge fan of Karen Witemeyer work this one was my least favorite.. the idea is really cute as expected but the story .. hmmmm
so the story is about Evangeline who has a set of different colored eyes and that made her an outcast in the society except for her "brothers" Seth and Zac .. then she meets Logan who has a major beef with Zac but against all odds they fall in love .. what will happen then ?
I wasn't interested in Evangeline's story as I felt no chemistry between the two .. but Seth story was really adorable <3 .. SOO excited for the second book to know Zac's story yaaaayyy I just love this guy and he has a lot to deal with :D .. I guess I'll have to wait and see :)

As for the narration .. she was ok .. but Logan and Seth sounded like little girls that I had a hard time imagining them masculine because they sounded so tiny from the narration .. I wouldn't recommend this book if you are new to Karen Witemeyer books .. start with " To Win Her Heart " it was the best :)

Always a treat!

Karen‘s books never disappoint me. This one was particularly uplifting and yet adventuresome and romantic. I love how the characters grow and change and inspire each other. No one is perfect, and all have an opportunity to see that and come to grips with that fact with hope and forgiveness. I particularly liked Evangeline and her refreshing honesty and transparency. She had such a thirst for life and such a thankful heart!

Pretty good...

Good overall story. I felt like it started stronger than it ended. Every touch and glance is described to the extreme, but overall good.

Great characters!

This was a very sweet book. Definitely had a lot more god related text in it than I’m use too. It kinda made me feel like I should go to church. Some things were pretty predictable but other times you were on the edge of your seat. Overall a great book!

Great story, well told.

Very well done but I wish her guy voice was a bit deeper with all the guys and not just Zach.

3 Orphans Come Together to Form Their Own Family

A very enjoyable story about three orphans put on an orphan train who devise a way to become a family of their own instead of being adopted by families who are just looking for free labor. I loved all the characters the author did a great job with their development. I'm reading the 2nd book in the series now and it's just as enjoyable. I will be looking at this author's other works as I really got into both stories and hated to put them down.

Amazing book

I loved this audio book and the narrative. there was never a dull moment and I didn't struggle to finish it. This is a truly wonderful story of grace and redemption. The ragtag band of family members and their fierce love for each other even when it might have led to heartache. Will definitely be listening to more.
