Publisher's summary

From New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Shelley Noble comes a heartrending and uplifting novel about friendship, love, and what we’re willing to sacrifice for our dreams.

What was supposed to be an idyllic wedding leads to an unexpected journey of self-discovery....

When Lillo Gray pulls up to Kennebunkport’s most exclusive hotel wearing a borrowed dress and driving a borrowed VW van, she knows she’s made a big mistake. She’s not even sure why Jessica Parker invited her to her posh wedding. They haven’t seen each other since they were unhappy 14-year-old girls at fat camp. And now they’re from two completely different worlds. There’s no way Lillo fits in the rarefied circles Jessica travels in.

Jess isn’t sure she’s ready to go through with this wedding, but she’s been too busy making everyone else happy to think about what she wants. But when she and her two closest friends, Allie and Diana, along with Lillo, discover her fiancé with his pants down in the hotel parking lot, she’s humiliated...and slightly relieved. In a rush to escape her crumbling life, Jess, Allie, and Diana pile into Lillo’s beat-up old van and head up the coast to Lighthouse Island. Once there, she hopes to figure out the next chapter in her life.

Nursing broken hearts and broken dreams, four lost women embark on a journey to find their way back into happiness with new love, friendship, and the healing power of Lighthouse Beach.

Disappointed in the adult language.

I enjoyed the story line but the language in the second book turned disgusting and repeated in nearly every sentence. A writer isn’t better
Because of these additions. Lots of there were lots of useless words.

Moving Story

Starts out as a farce but ends up giving readers much to think about. I could not stop listening.

Not Much of an Ending!

Very slow and lengthy only to end with no real ending, just a dud! I kept going back a few chapters and thinking I had missed something, but it just wasn’t there.

Great listen

Really wished there was a sequel to this book. I would have loved to know where each girl ended up. Did LILO and Ned or Ian and Dianna make a difference what about Jess, did she make a go of the restoration project. There is more to the stories. But not this one.

Well written

This was a very well written book that inspired me to take a long weekend in Maine! The author has an enviable command of the English language which motivates you to periodically grab a dictionary. Although I enjoyed the narrator, she needs to work on her Male voices.

Difficult to get through

I love this author but found this book too depressing. Everyone had issues and there wasn’t enough laughter. I found myself saying, get on with it. Or get over it.

Blah

I had hard time getting through the book. Liked some of the characters but overall boring/slow. Narration very monotone- made the book depressing to listen to.

Decent but nothing great

Definitely a beach read type book because of the slow revealing of every character and their backgrounds. The ending sets up for a possible sequel but there isn’t a cliff hanger or anything. It’s a decent book but nothing ground breaking about it. I definitely won’t recommend it though.

Good story

I enjoyed the story, but could have enjoyed it more without the swearing. That detracted from the ease of listening for me. Not everyone uses those words. It made for a cautious listen.

It grows on you

This is one of those books that you have to stick with it and don’t let the slow parts stop you from finishing. It’s a good story, but it’s got some heavy parts and everything isn’t tied up with a bow at the end. While I do enjoy stories that allow the reader to escape from the real world, I can appreciate a complicated story without all the answers. If you don’t mind angst and a story that leaves you wanting more, you’ll enjoy this book. Narration was good and although I am no expert on Maine accents, I thought she did a great job.
