You can't learn much in a one-hour course

Since this course is only an hour long, there isn't too much to it. It makes no attempt to be anything other than an overview of common phrases somebody might hear/use while traveling briefly in Croatia. And even in this regard, I'm not sure how successful it would be since there is such limited material. You will not learn how to put together sentences of your own and understand the grammar, but will just be able to regurtitate what you heard. Things move quick and nothing is really reviewed. Unlike Pimsleur, if you want to learn the content here, you will have to listen over and over and over.

However, I actually have done Pimsleur's Croatian course here on Audible (and even at ~15 hours and very well done, it's nowhere near getting you fluent), and I actually found this one-hour course a nice compliment because:

1) The Pimsleur course does everything in formal style and hence you never get to here informal verb endings and expressions, but this course does both (though obviously not in near as much depth as Pimsleur). It was nice to here how to say things casually even though it wasn't covered in depth.

2) Even though it's 1/15th the length of the Pimsleur course, this course has much more vocab than Pimsleur (admittedly, Pimsleur intentionally doesn't emphasis vocab as part of their philosphy for becoming fluent, and I agree with that approach).

3) Since there is significant overlap between the two courses but this one covers things in much less depth, this course can be a good way to review/remember things you learned with Pimsleur.

The audio quality is excellent though the voice of the native English-speaking woman host I found really annoying and patronizing, kinda like that voice in cheesy grocery stores that makes pre-recorded annoncements about sales. I also wish she would interect little tips or explanations every now and then rather than only saying the English translation of the word.

Finally, since this course is only an hour long, it doesn't make sense that it's worth one credit. I wish Audible would do half-credits.
