Would you listen to Michel Thomas Method again? Why?
Yes I would. This Greek intro didn't disappoint. I did the Michel Thomas method to learn a solid base of spoken Spanish. I wondered, given Michel is sadly no longer with us, if the Greek one would work using the method but delivered by someone other than the excellent Michel Thomas. All I can say is that it works.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Michel Thomas Method?
This morning I tried out what I had learned. I could bring it to mind easily. The basis of the course really takes the pressure off learning, off the student, which somehow makes it all go in and stay there. I love not having to sit at a desk to learn, and I hate having to write lists of words, so this is just brilliant. It's clever how they use subtle associate to help the words stick. Like using the word "Ego" a word we borrowed from Greek, and which means "I". We already know loads of Greek without knowing it :-)
Learning verb endings is a breeze with this method too. No more talking about participles.
Mind you, I think a bit of book studies after this would send your Greek stratospheric. I did formal Spanish after that course and do great now when I'm in Spain. The point I think I am trying to get at is that you get a huge chunk of solid language learning in a few hours and it stays there and is usable.
Have you listened to any of Hara Garoufalia-Middle and Howard Middle ’s other performances? How does this one compare?
Hara (the lady who does the Michel/teacher bit) is easy to follow, has clear pronunciation and a pleasant voice. Her, not strong, Greek accent is endearing and reassuringly present and she injects just the right amount of personality into the dialogue, which makes her even more endearing. I did worry at the beginning that she may be a bit 'school ma'am-ish but this is not so at all. She gets it just right.
I am going to get the full course now having been satisfied that the efficiency of the method still works, without Michel, bless him.
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
It's all Greek!
Any additional comments?
Can't wait for the next lesson! It works!

It went by so quickly, leaving me wanting to drink wine, ouzo and water, as well as hungry for a sandwich!
Much better than our old BBC Get By In Greek.
Only 3* for the story, as the plot is quite weak!
