"Pimsleur programs provide plenty of positive reinforcement that will keep learners on track, and we found that Pimsleur gave us more proficiency and confidence in speaking the new language than any of the other language programs we reviewed." ( AudioFile magazine)

Reference Guide not really included

Would you try another book from Pimsleur and/or the narrator?

Good audio courses, however the reference guide download is a pdf file that only includes the first page. Audible or Pimsleur need to update this and include the reference guide as advertised and paid for. An accompanying reference guide that lists the vocabulary and phases introduced in each lesson is necessary to truly learn Japanese unless you are a 100% auditory learner.

Great series, with only a few caveats.

I started with Pimsleur Japanese a few years ago before I even thought I would ever go to Japan. It's just a fascinating language. But after going there several times now, re-listening to the series to practice pronunciation and useful phrases leaves a few things that stand out:

- 飲むもの (nomumono "something to drink") and 飲み物 (nomimono "beverage"): I have never heard the first used. The second is much more common and incredibly useful at restaurants and in many other social situations; I wish they'd used it in the lessons.

- が話します (ga hanashimasu "[subject] talk") and を話します (wo hanashimasu "[object] talk"): I wish they had explained and illustrated the different usage. Particles are hard. I kind of get it now, but they did a much better job of this with other particle/verb combinations.

Still a great series. I don't know how I would have survived getting lost my first night in Tokyo without it. :)

This is a great way to learn Japanese!

I really like the Pimsleur method - it's a fantastic use of commute time in the car!

Others have reported that it has only the title page. This is only if you use some other PDF viewer! I had the same problem, and audible's awesome chat line sorted it for me!
