Publisher's summary

From Melbourne's gleaming skyscrapers to its throbbing nightclubs, Riley Jenson's world is raging with danger and desire. A drop-dead-gorgeous werewolf---with a touch of vamp coursing in her blood---Riley works for an organization created to police the supernatural races. But when she wakes up naked and bruised in a barren alley, she knows only that she must run for her life. Within moments, Riley collides with the sexiest man she's ever seen: steely, seductive Kade, who is fighting a life-and-death battle of his own. With old lovers and enemies gathering around her, Riley knows she is being pursued by a new kind of criminal. Because in Riley's blood is a secret that could create the ultimate warrior---if only she can survive her own dangerous desires.

Critic reviews

"The action and sex come fast and furious.... Strong world-building, vivid personalities and the distinctive cultures of each of the various paranormal strains combine for a rich narrative, and Arthur's descriptive prose adds texture and menace." ( Publishers Weekly)

Switching narrators in a series is never good

The narrator just isn't good in this book. Some of the guys sound like girls and the girls sound like guys! I had a hard time following this book because of the narrator, which is too bad because I really enjoyed the first book.

Love this series but....

Be warned this narrator has no medium volume. It's yelling or whispers. Watch your ears.

Looks like I got ;my wish...

I wished for a sequel back in 2009 and I got more than I asked for. I like these books. A little kinky, but I like the story behind all the sex!

Books are great, narrator not so much

I listened to the 1st book in the series and it was pretty good. Then I downloaded this book, and the narration was awful. After hearing this book I actually wasn't going to continue with the series. It took me over a month to even consider the books.. luckily I was able to check the books out at the library and they were really good. I recommend the books but the audio-books not so much.

Love it

I love this series and read it before I ever listened to it. The stories are always interesting and the characters amusing.

The narrator is ok. Her voice isn't very annoying, although she doesn't have much of an Australian accent. It would have been better if they had stuck with Justine Eyre, who narrated the first book in the series and has a voice more akin to the one I picture for Riley. She also has a stronger accent.

Other than that, this audiobook is really good and I highly recommend it.

I love this author

Another wonderful series by Keri Arthur.

Things I love generally about Keri Arthur booms hold true for this series

1. Strong but not stupid protagonist who doesn’t make stupid choices and asks for help when she needs to without needing rescue.
2. Women who aren’t catty / competitive / insecure and comparing their bodies. When people dislike each other it’s for valid reasons. Female characters aren’t stuck in stereotypes and their behavior alters through the books as relationships change.

This series needs to be read as a whole together to appreciate the relationship angles and the paths to getting where she needs to go mentally and emotionally. Some books end on low notes and some on high notes, but the emotional side is picked up in the next story.
