Publisher's Summary

Fifth grade was the worst year of Marc's life. He stunk at gym class, math was too hard for him, the school lunch was horrible, and his class field trip was ruined because he couldn't swim. But what was the most awful thing about fifth grade? Kenny Williamson, the class bully, who called himself the "King of the Jungle".
When Marc's mother tells him that his uncle Jake is coming to stay for the whole summer, Marc can't wait. Uncle Jake is a for-real super-cool Navy SEAL. And Uncle Jake has a plan.
He's going to turn Marc into a warrior.
Becoming a warrior isn't easy. It means a lot of pull-ups, sit-ups, push-ups, squats, swimming, eating right, and studying harder than ever before! Can Marc transform himself into a warrior before school starts in the fall - and finally stand up to the King of the Jungle himself?

REQUIRED READING

Where does Way of the Warrior Kid rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This one is at the top. Look, it's a "kid's book" in it's format, but it's also an excellent distillation of what Jocko (and Leif) put forth through their work: Echelon Front. Also, what Jocko is getting at so often with his podcast. If you have sons...scratch that...children, this should be required reading.

What other book might you compare Way of the Warrior Kid to and why?

Can't think of one

Which character – as performed by Thor Willink and Jocko Willink – was your favorite?

Mark all the way. Couldn't have been better or meant more to have Thor Willink read the part.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I think it's Jocko's job to come up with that one.

Any additional comments?

Excellent, Excellent, Excellent. If you have children and anything remotely related to self-esteem, discipline, respect and responsibility are important to you, read this to your kids.

Don't have a kid to apply this to, still liked it!

What did you love best about Way of the Warrior Kid?

The narrators are on point! They go over some really good lessons that are practical. It gives good insight to what a kid could be going through.

What other book might you compare Way of the Warrior Kid to and why?

.. Nothing comes to mind.

What about Thor Willink and Jocko Willink ’s performance did you like?

Everything. I really like Jocko though.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

All the kids making fun of him for not being able to do pull ups.. Those kids suck.

Any additional comments?

I don't have a kid I can apply this to and I still throughly enjoyed the book.

Excellent book with simple, profound life lessons.

Even though this is written as a book aimed at kids, I really enjoyed reading and learning the life lessons taught in this book.

Fantastic where was this when I was a kid!

I want to send this to everybody I know with a son.
We need a warrior princess version A.S.A.P.
My five-year-old girl could learn a lot.
Thanks
Ben

My son (9 years old) and I spend a bit of time driving around during the week. We listened to this book the last 2 weeks and was awesome.
