Not what I expected.

To be fair, this may just be that I had expected a book that gave me another perspective on the Potter series and this was not it. As a result, my expectations may have been wrong.

It's a philosophical work and it's heavy. Not being a philosopher, it's hard for me to rate it as such a work. In the book, various writers write essays about a philosophical take on various aspects of Potter stories, such as examination of the nature of a soul in the Potter universe.

If you are into philosophy, then the book is for you. If like me, you're just hooked on Harry Potter and can't get enough of it, it's the wrong book.

Great discussion/thoughts

I really enjoyed thinking about this series from an academic perspective. The series was so very entertaining it is hard to believe this could add another fantastic layer.

Awful, patronising narrator

A lot of the content is fascinating and thought-provoking.

However, the narrator sets my teeth on edge with her patronising tone and does a rubbish job of differentiating when she's reading quotations. She also barely attempts to give the characters within those quotations distinct voices.
