Publisher's Summary

Janner Wingfeather's father was the High King of Anniera. But his father is gone. The kingdom has fallen. The royal family is on the run, and the Fang armies of Gnag the Nameless are close behind.
Janner and his family hope to find refuge in the last safe place in the world: the Green Hollows - a land of warriors feared even by Fangs of Dang. But there's a big problem. Janner's little brother - heir to the throne of Anniera - has grown a tail. And gray fur. Not to mention two pointed ears and long, dangerous fangs. To the suspicious folk of the Green Hollows, he looks like a monster. But Janner knows better. His brother isn't as scary as he looks. He's perfectly harmless. Or is he?
Join the Wingfeathers on an adventure filled with mystery, betrayal, and sneakery in a land of tasty fruits. There's a monster on the loose, and the truth lurks in the shadows.

Like the story, NOT the narration

Would you recommend The Monster in the Hollows to your friends? Why or why not?

Not the audible book. The narration is so bad that even when you listen and don't do anything else, the characters run together. The author/narrator doesn't even bother to continue the same cadence or voice characteristics as the previous narrator. This is an enjoyable series, but the narration sabotages the momentum and characters.

Great story, new reader

Love this series. Peterson did a wonderful job in creating a world and characters that are easy to like and care about. The narration is performed by the author for this book. Let me just say that the reader for the first 2 was really good.

I'm rather sad...

I loved the first two books in this series, so I was really excited to see books three and four were available. But something's very wrong. Peter Sanderson, who narrated the first two books, was quirky but quickly became a part of the story. The author has taken over the narration and suddenly several of the characters have strange not-quite-Irish accents, which I find very distracting. But more than that, the poetry in the words, which made the first two books so lyrical, has gone. I'm only about half way through and still hoping the original world, so beautifully created, is still there, somewhere...

thank you A Peterson

the third book and the journey pulls you along like an old friend in a time of hardship. The struggles that endure by tenous finger holds. My 8 and 10 year olds just love this story. I enjoy hearing how my boys interact to the saga of how and what may happen next. I appreciate how the author uses his language to make the picture. How the stories slowly builds emotions and how beautifully the book describes the story in three dimensions.
it took time but these stories have settled in my mind and will be with me for along time as few but other great books have. Thanks again A P from a little family Tasmania.

Amazing!

I absolutely love this series, and I’m so glad that I have found it! It is not just for children! The ending was amazing, and I wept my way through the final chapters. Can’t wait to start the final book.
