The middle book in the series takes a middle-of the-road approach

I very much enjoyed this book. Where "The Book of Three" was kind of light and fluffy, and "The Black Cauldron" was on the darker, heavier side, this third book is somewhere in between those two poles.

My main reason for knocking the book down a star was that there were a few places where I felt frustrated at being a step ahead of the protagonists. I'm not sure whether this was due to writing, or due to how many similar tales have been written since this book. Whatever the reason, I found myself muttering, "Come on, guys, add it up, add it up!"

Still, all things considered, this is a great book. I can't wait till next month, when I start the next one.
