Publisher's Summary

The Herdmans plus Halloween have always spelled disaster. Every year, these six kids, the worst in the history of Woodrow Wilson School and possibly even the world, wreak havoc on the whole town. They steal candy, spray-paint kids, and take anything that's not nailed down. Now the mayor has had it. He's decided to cancel Halloween. There won't be any Herdmans to contend with this year, but there won't be any candy, either. And what's Halloween without candy? And without trick-or-treating? The Herdmans manage to turn the worst Halloween ever into the best Halloween ever in this uproarious sequel to The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.

Critic Reviews

"Robinson's full-bodied, measured prose has a retro feel, and his narrative, studded with informative historical and political tidbits, turns every new setting into its own short story." (Publishers Weekly)

Best Halloween Ever

What made the experience of listening to The Best Halloween Ever the most enjoyable?

My kids read this along with The Best School Year Ever. Both are great stories and keep the students really engaged.

What didn’t you like about Elaine Stritch’s performance?

The author's voice is very deep and rough and hard on the ears. I am teaching fluency and hers isn't the best. The only reason I kept playing it was because I am sick and have no voice of my own!
