Jeannette Walls grew up with parents whose ideals and stubborn nonconformity were both their curse and their salvation. Rex and Rose Mary Walls had four children. In the beginning, they lived like nomads, moving among Southwest desert towns, camping in the mountains. Rex was a charismatic, brilliant man who, when sober, captured his children's imagination. Rose Mary painted and wrote and couldn't stand the responsibility of providing for her family; she called herself an "excitement addict."

Sam Hill always saw the world through different eyes. Born with red pupils, he was called “Devil Boy” or Sam “Hell” by his classmates; “God’s will” is what his mother called his ocular albinism. Her words were of little comfort, but Sam persevered. Sam believed it was God who sent Ernie Cantwell, the only African American kid in his class, to be the friend he so desperately needed. And that it was God’s idea for Mickie Kennedy to storm into Our Lady of Mercy like a tornado, uprooting every rule Sam had been taught about boys and girls. Forty years later, Sam, a small-town eye doctor, is no longer certain anything was by design.

Couldn't Get Enough!
The adventures of Angus the Mouse is one of the best most motivational children's book I've ever heard. I loved the concept and morals contained in this story. His struggles were so realistic that anyone of any age could relate to what Angus goes through and how he feels. Not only did my kids love it. I loved it too because every scene inspired change to love, honor and respect family and friendship. Great Story!!!

Any additional comments?
This book was so much fun my children laugh throughout the entire story. Both Angus and Sam made the story worth every second. The thrills, twist and turns along with a pinch of faith that made this one of the best I've heard for children.

Can't Stop Laughing
Angus the mouse was a great story about one mouse finding his place in life. Young, yet, full of adventure he seeks his desires while facing the biggest test. With courage his meaning was fulfilled.
