Publisher's summary

The race is on to find 39 Clues that safeguard a great power, and 14-year old Amy Cahill and her younger brother, Dan, are shocked to find themselves in the lead. The search seems to be taking them to Vienna, and they hold a coded piece of Mozart's sheet music that's the key to finding the next Clue. But tailed by a pack of power-hungry relatives, Amy and Dan can't see if they are sailing toward victory - or straight into a deadly trap.

just read it

i cannot comment on every writer individually because the books sort of ran together for me during a week trip. I read them all and cannot pinpoint every writer.
I can say that they were all wonderful and have great stories mixed with history and geography. They can teach in a great fun exciting atmosphere.

Great for kids, a tad tedious for adults

I'm enjoying the series so far, although they are for kids. So long as I listen to some adult books in between, I am good. Kids will like these--enough mystery, history, danger, and excitement for everyone. I just don't understand how the other competitors find out the clues even though they don't have as much info as Dan and Amy. And I hope they don't have to join the Skull and Crossbones in order to be the most important and powerful influencers of civilization!

fun tale

I really enjoyed the narration. It is a good story, easy to follow, with some education thrown in. I am looking forward to the next book. I would recomend these books to all kinds of kids.

Good read for kids & adults...

I will read (listen to) books more directed to kids from time to time just to give myself a break from some of the more serious topics, and this is a great listen if you might do the same, or just enjoy a well written series without wanting to listen to something too long..

Right now, the 39 Clues books seem to be my go to when I'm taking one of my breaks..

They are well written, well narrated, and are overall great books for kids or adults. Think of an Indiana Jones adventure from a kids point of view.. Well rounded characters, plot twists that aren't too obvious, etc..

Overall, I would definitely recommend this book (and this series) if you aren't looking for something good and an ongoing story you can follow from time to time.. This is book 2 but I think I'm up to #5 now & have enjoyed every one so far (even bought the next because I was wanting to hear the next step in the adventure)... It will probably take me a few years before I get up to the last book, but I'm in no hurry..

Give the series a try (but start at Book 1)...

Great for the whole family!!

My family -- son 8YO, daughter 10YO, my husband and I -- all LOVE listening to these books. The narrator is amazing. The story line is interesting and fast-paced and educational for everyone. The characters are entertaining. All in all, a great listen. I HIGHLY recommend this series to families for road trips or simply driving around town. It's amazing how much less bickering there is between my kids get in or how quickly a bad mood gets turned around once this book is turned on.

Alistair retrieved the homing pin from Motzart's lapel it had been affixed with chewing gum spun on his heel and walked away.
