Publisher's Summary

Patricia Polacco is now one of America's most loved children's book writers and illustrators, but once upon a time, she was a little girl named Trisha starting school. Trisha could paint and draw beautifully, but when she looked at words on a page, all she could see was jumble. It took a very special teacher to recognize little Trisha's dyslexia: Mr. Falker, who encouraged her to overcome her reading disability. Patricia Polacco will never forget him, and neither will we.

What the Critics Say

"Once more Polacco shares a personal story with engaging results." (School Library Journal)
"Young readers struggling with learning difficulties will identify with Trisha's situation and find reassurance in her success." (Publishers Weekly)

My mother introduced Patricia Polacco's books to us as kids and I can honestly say that I have never seen my mother cry before this story. This is one of the most inspirational books that I read as a child and I guess I could say reading Polacco's books as well as many others has turned me into the crazy bookworm that I am today. So thank you, Patricia Polacco and thank you Mr. Faulkner for being the inspiration that gave us one of the best children's authors of my generation.
