Publisher's Summary

She's as magical as the desert sky. As strange as her pet rat. As mysterious as her own name. From the day she arrives at quiet Mica High in a burst of color and sound, the hallways hum with the murmur of "Stargirl, Stargirl." She captures Leo Borlock's heart with just one smile. She sparks a school-spirit revolution with just one cheer. The students of Mica High are enchanted.
At first.
Then they turn on her. Stargirl is suddenly shunned for everything that makes her different. And Leo, panicked and desperate with love, urges her to become the very thing that can destroy her: normal.
In this celebration of nonconformity, Newbery Medalist Jerry Spinelli weaves a tense, emotional tale about the perils of popularity and the thrill and inspiration of first love.

Awesome - My First Audio Book

I downloaded this book for my 10 yr old kid. I personally don't like to read books, except for technical books, so I thought that I thought I would listen to the story while I'm doing work and be able to talt to my kid about it. I have to admit I really enjoyed star girl and my son will find it easy to relate to her since he too like to do things his own way, though not to the extent of the character. I personally would recommend this to kids ages from 9 to 13. I'll have my son post an update as soon as he listens to it. Great story for kids

So wonderful...

Little did I know that we would lose such a great actor in John Ritter at such an early age, but we also lost him as a wonderful narrator. Who knew he was so endearing and charming with his voice. It really captured my attention and I loved this story. Definitely worth your time.
