Publisher's Summary

Samantha Parkington is an orphan being raised by her wealthy grandmother at the start of a brand-new century, a time when new ideas and inventions are changing everyone's lives. Samantha's own world is filled with elegance and privilege, but she sees that not everyone's life is changing for the better - especially her friend Nellie, a servant girl who lives next door.
Some people consider "mixing with servants" bold and improper. But for Samantha, a person's worth isn't measured by wealth. True friendship is what matters most.

Samantha was super brave.

I liked when Samantha shoved the gum into the boy’s hair. I also liked that the dog sat in the stroller and then later he jumped into the fountain. I also liked the part when Samantha changed the speech she was supposed to be telling. I did not like the orphan director.

I would recommend this book to girls and boys that like interesting stories ages 7-10.

I gave 5 stars because it was cool, it was magical, and it was funny. It was also sometimes intense. (Review by Ada - age 7)
