Publisher's summary

From The New York Times best-selling author of Rump comes a spellbinding fairy tale featuring a brave heroine, a wild wolf, plenty of magical misadventures, and more!

Red is not afraid of the big bad wolf. She’s not afraid of anything...except magic. But when Red’s granny falls ill, it seems that only magic can save her, and fearless Red is forced to confront her one weakness.

With the help of a blond, porridge-sampling nuisance called Goldie, Red goes on a quest to cure Granny. Her journey takes her through dwarves’ caverns to a haunted well and a beast’s castle. All the while, Red and Goldie are followed by a wolf and a huntsman - two mortal enemies who seek the girls’ help to defeat each other. And one of them just might have the magical solution Red is looking for....

Liesl Shurtliff weaves a spellbinding tale, shining the spotlight on a beloved character from her award-winning debut, Rump.

"Red is the most wonder-filled fairy tale of them all!” (Chris Grabenstein, New York Times best-selling author of Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library)

"Moving and filled with hope...the charm of Shurtliff's retelling is how she imbues the storybook tropes with vibrant humanity." (Shelf Awareness, starred review)

And don't miss Jack: The True Story of Jack and the Beanstalk, "a delightful story of family, perseverance and courage" (Booklist).

It’s really good for kids

What I liked about it is sad and followed storylines other stories like grump, romp Jack and what I disliked about it is that each storyline changes it’s really really good for a little kids because it’s like a nursery rhyme but upgraded

New spin on an old tale

I loved listening to this book with my son. I have found a new author who offers different spins on old tales. She found interesting ways to tell the story of fairy tale characters while adding the whole fairy tale world.

Narration was annoying and distracting

Our family has enjoyed all of Liesl Shurtliff’s fairytales, but in this one, the narration was so annoying we often had to turn it off to give our ears a break.
The story was great, and we enjoyed the many references to other fairytale characters.

Great story, tottaly not a good narrarator for such a serious girl.

I love Liesl Shurtliff’s books! It almost ruined it for me that they used this particular narrarator for this books! Hire her for a kids book or something! Her voice is way to high and squeaky for Red!!!!!

I think it is an amazing story and sweet and I always wondered what happened to Little red riding Hood and why he did everything she did and now I know it and I think it’s just amazing and I really suggest it
