Story
It was 80 years ago, on the publication of The House at Pooh Corner, when Christopher Robin said good-bye to Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends in the Hundred Acre Wood. Now they are all back in new adventures, for the first time approved by the Trustees of the Pooh Properties. This is a companion volume that truly captures the style of A. A. Milne - a worthy sequel to The House at Pooh Corner and Winnie-the-Pooh.

Classical Music
This is mostly Classical Music. I can't remember being four years old, but I know any age older than that, I would have been bored out of my head. Music is good, but this is audible books not I-tunes.

Not The Classic!
Has Peter and the Wolf turned you off from other books in this genre?
No.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Is a beautiful performance by both the narrator as well as the Seattle Symphony.
Any additional comments?
The ending has become more p.c. for children which I think is wrong. The wolf is now taken to a zoo. What the point of having the hunters in story at all? Peter could have just returned to his grandfather and called the forest ranger for that. It destroys a classic! And the performance is so beautiful too. DEPRESSING.

Grandfather is an old bassoon
This concert is one of the best ways to introduce a child to the assorted parts of an orchestra. I first heard this concert in the early years of 1940. Later, I purchased the Leonard Bernstein version for my children to hear. Now, I bought this version from Audible to share with my granddaughter.
She was delighted to know it was read by Jim Dale, the "voice of Harry Potter" and she sat beside me as we shared a pair of earphones to listen to it together. When it was over, she borrowed my ipod so she could hear it again. Later in the day I overheard her walking around, humming Peter's theme.

Wonderful!
This is a classic story that was done very well. The music wasn't cut short as in other recordings I've listened to, and Jim Dale can do no wrong.

My Child's favorite!

Having my child say, "Mom, the WOLF!"
What does Jim Dale bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Dale's narration is whole-hearted. He paints the pictures with his words and inflections.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It gets me through long car trips. Listening to it for the hundreth time on repeat can make me want to cry, though!

Loud ending
I listen to this to go to bed and by the time I’m drifting off the book ends and there’s an abrupt and loud woman who comes on and announces the end of the book. It’s similar to the “audible hopes you enjoyed this program” but louder and super startling in contrast to the easy listening of the actual audio book. Anyway that but at the end could be deleted or at least redone at a lower decibel level?
