Publisher's summary

Newbery Medal Winner, 1944

A story filled with danger and excitement, Johnny Tremain tells of the turbulent, passionate times in Boston just before the Revolutionary War.

Johnny, a young apprentice silversmith, is caught with Otis, Hancock, and John and Samuel Adams in the exciting operations and subterfuges leading up to the Boston Tea Party and the Battle of Lexington. As Johnny is forced into the role of a full-grown man in the face of his new country's independence, he finds that his relations with those he loves changes for the better as well.

Johnny Tremain is historical fiction at its best, portraying the living drama of Revolutionary Boston through the shrewd eyes of an observant boy.

This has been the favorite

My two sons, ages 14 and 12, read and listened to this book this year. They both loved the book and audible so much they insist it's the favorite for the year. Great voice and great book.

Always a favorite :)

I've read this book to my children as part of homeschool three times. Audible was a wonderful alternative when I lost my voice to cancer. Thank you!

Helpful and engaging for middle school students

Any additional comments?

I downloaded this version for my middle school student to help with a required reading assignment. This was a wonderful tool for my student. It helped her understand the story more by hearing the narrator's inflection and emotional reading. I highly recommend using audible.com books for those struggling readers to follow along in the book while the original text is narrated.

Audio Goals💗😻

I loved it with the audio. So much easier! Also the woman speaking actually puts some emotion into the reading and adds some character voices. My peers seem to hate it reading out of the book but yet I love it hearing it.
SPOILER ALERT:Johnny dies. jk. ITS JUST A PRANK BRO

Great book, highly reccomended!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes I would recommend this audio book to friend because it's very interesting but it also teaches you a good lesson.

What did you like best about this story?

My favorite thing about this story was the setting. It's a great story but I love how they incorporated things like Lexington and concord, the Boston tea party etc..

Which scene was your favorite?

SPOILER ALERT(:

My favorite scene Rab's death. Not to sound harsh because I love Rab but after his death I felt like although it was heartbreaking Johnny really learned something that sometimes you have to stand up for what you believe in and make sacrifices.
'A man can stand up...'

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes! This book was mandatory for my school and I had to read it one chapter at a time but at first I wanted to literally finish the whole story.

Accurate and Detailed

This was a greatly accurate, and detailed piece on historical fiction. This story had the ability to bring both facts and tears to your eyes. Yet, overall, patriotism and anger.
