Editorial Reviews

Maybe a camel's hump evolved to store water. Or maybe that hump is punishment for being so lazy in the olden times. Nobel prize-winning author Rudyard Kipling purports the latter in "How the Camel Got His Hump", as part of his Just So Stories. British hit actor Geoffrey Palmer's performance is a riot. He capitalizes on his best-known feature: that crabby hangdog look…or in this case, sound. He is so grumpy that it is adorable. Meanwhile, his lackadaisical tone suits the idle camel. Little ones will certainly love this cute story; fortunately, there's plenty more of Kipling's fun origin tales to download next.

Publisher's Summary

This is a story from the Just So Stories collection.
Here is the complete and unabridged collection of Rudyard Kipling's delightful Just So Stories, which he first told to his own children before setting them down on paper: How the Camel Got His Hump, How the Leopard Got His Spots, How the Elephant Got His Trunk, The Butterfly that Stamped, and many others. Written in the late 1800s and first published in 1902, these enchanting animals remain unforgettable, over 100 years later. Critic Reviews

"This collection includes Kipling's 12 original Just So Stories narrated by Geoffrey Palmer, whose deep and resonant voice is perfectly suited to the tales. It is satisfying to hear the stories as they were meant to be told - aloud." (School Library Journal)
