Publisher's summary

A name is destiny...or is it? Young Vicky is reeling from the loss of her old horse Joe, but eager to help the flighty, impossible to ride young mare, Witch. Unpredictable and dangerous, Witch's future is bleak. In her first moment with the horse no one trusted, Vicky changed Witch's name to Gidget, a hopeful benediction. "If only changing her name is all it took to change behavior," the farm owner laments. Despite her new name, Gidget, the horse formerly known as Witch, struggles to abandon old, unstable habits. Along the way, the fearful horse captures the heart of a grieving child, and miracles of healing unfold to a remarkable conclusion. A story about changing one's destiny.

Worth the credit

I loved the story and the narrator was tailor made for this book. She read as if they were her actual memories. The only downside is that I was able to guess the ending and I thought it ended pretty abruptly with no easing out of the climatic revelation. All in all it's a really sweet story that feels more like listening to Grandma tell you about her childhood than an audiobook.

Heartbreak and Triumph

Our entire family loved Gidget. We were drawn into life with Vicky on Burton's farm, and felt like we were right there with her through her successes, failures, heartbreaks, and triumphs. Gidget reminded us that no lost soul is too far gone, and to never give up hope. This book was a beautiful example of how kindness, gentleness and patience can turn a life around. We were definitely left wanting more, and can't wait to listen to the next book in the series!

Great, heart warming Young Adult story

This is a wonderful and heart warming story told in classic story teller fashion.

The main character is a average pre-teen / teen girl struggling with all the normal challenges and insecurities that go with that time. She is maturing emotionally and mentally as she deals with the ups and downs of life, family, friendships and her love of horses.

The story is a simple yet wonderful experience as Vicky struggles to redeem a young mare that everyone else says is a lost cause. As she does, she is shown how we too are redeemed by Gods Grace, Love and Patience.

A very good story for the whole family.
