Publisher's Summary

At Ever After High, an enchanting boarding school, the children of fairytale legends prepare themselves to fulfill their destinies as the next generation of Snow Whites, Prince Charmings and Evil Queens...whether they want to or not. Each year on Legacy Day, students sign the Storybook of Legends to seal their scripted fates. For generations, the Village of Book End has whispered that refusing to sign means The End-both for a story and for a life.
As the daughter of the Evil Queen, Raven Queen's destiny is to follow in her mother's wicked footsteps, but evil is so not Raven's style. She's starting to wonder, what if she rewrote her own story? The royal Apple White, daughter of the Fairest of Them All, has a happy ever after planned for herself, but it depends upon Raven feeding her a poison apple in their future.
What if Raven doesn't sign the Storybook of Legends? It could mean a happily never after for them both.

What If Fairytale Characters went to School ...

What did you love best about Ever After High?

Although this series carries towards the teens' book style, I absolutely loved! Well I just love fairytales, fantasy and paranormal stuff. Most of my books are YA but do enjoy some titles that are consider children books or teenagers books. Anyways… what I loved about this book is mostly that our favorite characters are represented there… well in the form of their offspring and under some modern fashion. I've watched the cartoon version of the series in their website and its pretty close though the story is very compressed there… I wish they made a movie version.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Apple White and Raven off course, though I like Briar Beauty, Madeleine Hatter and many others as well even though they have minor parts in the story. Apple and Raven are the best depicted characters and have all the spotlight in the story. The Narrator also gives such great performance that altogether I find impossible not to like them. Plus I think Shannon Hale wanted them to be like, some authors in other hand make us hate some of their characters even the main character at times… something I do not understand … but they do, mostly in YA books.

What does Kathleen McInerney bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I think Kathleen's voice is amazing!!! She's perfect to give voice to the young teens either voicing females or male characters. Baba-Yaga's voice as an old lady also sounds perfect! The funny thing is that she may even sing as one of the male characters is likes rap… that's the only part at all in the first book (and in the second book as well) that i don't really care for. hahaha I just don't like rap with the exception of a few the songs in the book sounds silly to me but perhaps for a young teen its ok… who knows?

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I enjoyed the story and the narrator performance so much that I actually did listen the book while I did my day chores.

Any additional comments?

I think after listening both first and second book that this book is for anyone who likes fairytales and wanna give it to their children as well. There's some romance but very light… not one of those dramatic love-dove teen romances… which is good… I find very tiring those parts in YA books and I tend to pass those parts. There's little violence but necessary to give some action to the story. The book depicts the scenery very well and its highly enhanced with Kathleen' s voice. After seeing the cartoon's version first I could totally see the characters alive in my mind under Kathleen's voice. Also the book endorse true friendship and the acts of good and evil. Also the results of bad choices. So I think its an excellent book to enjoy listening with Kids. As for the age I'm not sure Kids below the age of 8 would understand the story… just my opinion. But over 11-12 would highly appreciate the story. I hope you enjoy as I did ! BYE
