Kids love it

What did you love best about Children’s Favorites, Vol. 1?

Personally I didn't like it because there are 42 tracks and no one knows which order they are in, so the kids would ask for a story and it would take me forever to find it! However the
Kids love the original stories which start at track 21.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Peter Pan is our favorite story!

Glad we bought it, but ...

Would you try another book from Disney Press and/or Tavia Gilbert and Richard Smalls ?

Yes

What did you like best about this story?

The stories are varied and largely well read.

Did Children’s Favorites, Vol. 1 inspire you to do anything?

I will be wary about buying collections like this in the future because they are a pain to navigate, especially when driving.

Any additional comments?

Label the chapters! There is a lot of content in this purchase -- which is nice -- but the chapters aren't listed or labeled anywhere, so a request to, "Play Peter Pan!" takes me AGES, clicking on each chapter and letting it start to play to figure out what it is.

Total twaddle

Don't be duped by the branding. These are poor quality, terribly simple "stories", written in a boring, passive tone with no language enrichment and big, cheesy morals. Even with a great reader, these stories are awful. I regret the purchase!

No track names!

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would, with reservations. It's 4 hours long with no names of tracks so if you want to find a specific story you have to remember the track number or get there by trial and error. Frustrating!

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Adding track names.

What about Tavia Gilbert and Richard Smalls ’s performance did you like?

Lovely performances. My three year old calls them the mommy stories and the daddy stories.

Any additional comments?

I would love it if the Audible app allowed for a timer to be set, and if the tracks could be labeled, and put into play lists. Some of the stories I would rather my son not hear until he is older, others are fine. But there is no way to edit into a playlist that I can find.

Too violent for a little ears

Some of the stories talk about death and have lots of fighting. It's too much for children under five. Beware. .

Not Happy

The problem is there is no way to go to the next story. The audile starts at the same point and does not allow you to skip a story. It also does not show you all the stories in the book. I wish it was a way I could review the book and listen to whatever chapter we want to enjoy.

Awful and thin. Kids hated it.

Story lines were so thin as to generate zero interest for kids. Narration okay but narrators had nothing to work with.

disappointed & scarey for bedtime

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

no one. listening to parents dying at bedtime is not appropriate ever really.

What could Disney Press have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

not included scary bambi and lion king tales of their parents dying at bedtime!

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

some of the stories are okay but my 5 year son doesn't want to listen because of the scary sad stories.

Any additional comments?

Why can't disney make films where parents don't die!!! stop traumatizing children.

Pain to figure out which stories are in the book

As others mentioned, navigating to a certain story is a pain. Look for the list of stories another person posted in their review, it's helpful!
