Teen Drama

Would you try another book from Roxanne Smolen and/or Jennifer Fournier?

I hadn't noticed earlier that the book is targeted to 8-10 year olds, and thus I was slightly disappointed with the story structure of this book. But when I saw the categorization of the book in Audible, I kinda understood. The book is supposed to be easily digestible and light read. Good for readers / listeners of that age group. Not really my thing at the age of 30.

I would check out other works of Roxanne Smolen if there are any for adults.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I would guess the story is good enough as it is for the target audience of 8-10 year olds. If it were for more mature readers, the characters would benefit from a more detailed development and better interaction among themselves. Instead of mostly white and black character shades, some gray areas would be great too.

What three words best describe Jennifer Fournier’s performance?

Distinct. Clear. Pleasant.

Any additional comments?

I received this audiobook for free from the author / narrator / publisher in exchange for an unbiased review.

More for 8-10 year old.

Any additional comments?

I found the characters to be too simple and very frustrating at times. However this book is aimed at young people between the ages of 8 and 10. If I didn't know this to begin with, I would have put a similar age bracket.
There is action adventure and a mystery with some suspense. It's not bad but there needs to be more character development if it is going to be for older readers.

I would recommend to younger teens. There is no sexual content or bad language except for some mild violence.

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
