It seems all this was about was hatred and death.

The other books have been great. But it felt like the only plot line the author depended on was one of misunderstanding and hatred. The main character is incredibly misunderstood and hated for no reason when the very next chapter he turns around and does the exact same thing to someone else. I recommend skipping this book and going to the next one. Read the cliff notes, this is definitely not a representation of the rest of the series.
