Publisher's summary

A gritty, angsty, friends-to-lovers stand-alone romance from USA Today best-selling author Siobhan Davis.

A childhood promise. An unbreakable bond. One tragic event that shatters everything.

It all started with the boys next door....

Devin and Ayden were my best friends. We were practically joined at the hip since age two. When we were kids, we thought we were invincible, inseparable, that nothing or no one could come between us.

But we were wrong.

Everything turned to crap our senior year of high school.

Devin was turning into a clone of his deadbeat lowlife father - fighting, getting wasted, and screwing his way through every girl in town. I'd been hiding a secret crush on him for years. Afraid to tell him how I felt in case I ruined everything. So, I kept quiet and slowly watched him self-destruct with a constant ache in my heart.

Where Devin was all brooding darkness, Ayden was the shining light. Our star quarterback with the bright future whom everyone loved. But something wasn't right. He was so guarded, and he wouldn't let me in.

When Devin publicly shamed me, Ayden took my side, and our awesome-threesome bond was severed. The split was devastating. The heartbreak inevitable.

Ayden and I moved on with our lives, but the pain never lessened, and Devin was never far from our thoughts.

Until it all came to a head in college, and one eventful night changed everything.

Now, I've lost the two people who matter more to me than life itself. Nothing will ever be the same again.

A stand-alone new adult contemporary romance with a happy ending. Suitable only for listeners age 18 and older due to mature content and possible triggers.

I have so much to say about this book.....

I’ll start by saying I hated it. A few chapters in and I was irritated and I stayed irritated till the end. I’m not one to give up on a book so I kept going. It just got worse and more irritating as it went on and goodness did it go on ...and on.....and on.
Angelina and Aiden are selfish, self absorbed, childish and disloyal beyond belief. Poor Devon starts off the same but the reasons for his behavior are at least understandable and he redeems himself. I felt that he was a victim throughout this book. If these three were such close life long friends half the stuff in this book just wouldn’t have happened.

Every drama you could think of is squeezed in to this book, unrequited love, a love triangle, bullying, alcoholism, teen runaway, teen pregnancy gone bad, abusive parents and abusive spouses, estranged fathers, missing mothers, rape, murder, sexual orientation and the angst of coming out, suicide, lying, cheating and every betrayal you can think of is in this book!

****SPOILER ALERT***** sorry there is no way to explain why I disliked it so much without a reveal.

Angelina is a horrible character, the worst, followed closely by Aiden. How can she be so in love with Devon and in a matter of weeks getting it on with their best friend Aiden. She flits from one to the other breaking one and using the other. That said by the end Aiden was probably the worst of all.

Gosh! I don’t even know how to write this but a quick synopsis of the plot might help me so here we go....

Three best friends Angelina, Devon and Aiden have grown up together and have been inseparable till their senior year.
Angelina loves Devon.
Devon seems to be a manwhore but it’s apparent he loves her back.
Their moment comes, they get hot and heavy he holds back and refuses to take her virginity because he is in a bad place in his young life, addicted to alcohol and in a downward spiral and wants to be better before embarking on a relationship with the girl he’s been in love with most of his life.
But she wants him to deflower her, she has waited all her life for him, why won’t he take her even though she can clearly see he is in his own personal hell.
Angelina doesn’t take, what she decides is his rejection, very well.
Devon gets fall over drunk and sleeps with Angelina’s enemy.
She retaliates by sleeping with Aiden. Even though it’s clear there are secrets between the boys that need explanations. And that Devon is struggling with something that is controlling his decision making. No she decides to make it worse for all of them by sleeping with the one person she shouldn’t touch. Some kind of true love she had for Devon... NOT!
Aiden takes offered Virginity even though he knows his best friend is in love with her and she him and that Devon recently refused her because he was trying to do the right thing. (Predictably Aiden is actually in love with Devon and gets in the way to sabotage any chance of Devon having a relationship with Angelina. After advising his BEST friend to hold off confessing his love till he has his act together. BACK STABBER!)

By this point I’m done with the book but keep reading because I can’t help but hope these characters will redeem themselves. But they just continue with their selfish behavior till they destroy their lives and take a few others with them along the way. Causing huge amounts of heartache for everyone that cares about them.

It was too much, too far fetched and ridiculous and just plain annoying. Add to that the unlikable and frankly irredeemable characters of Angelina and Aiden and the book just dragged on and on. But somehow everyone that is still alive at the end lives happily ever after.

I can’t fathom how this got rated so high. Which is why I chose to write this blatant rant because I don’t want any one else coming into this blind. I love a romance and I expect angst and heartbreak being mixed in, it comes with the territory. But this was just a cluster ****.

main character suicide

I had no clue one of the main characters was going to commit suicide in the second half. From what I read, this was supposed to be a high school college romance w/ happy ending. I hated the ending.

Mediocre

I didn’t hate this, but I didn’t love it either. It was very predictable and I think there was way too many supporting storylines that made the overall story unbelievable and over the top. The editor failed the writer in this one. The voice narrator was OK. As usual, the teen voice sounded too old and too mature and when the actor switched to the mom’s voice, she made her sound like a 90 year old woman.

A lot of Drama...

This was my second attempt at this audio book. I don't remember how far I made it the first time but this time I only made it to chapter 35 out of 49. There is still nearly 5 hours left and I just can't. The audio is good the actual writing is fine its just the drama and the love triangle. Where I left off Ange is doing something that I just can't get on board with. She has been torn between the two boys but to me it was very clear from the beginning who THE boy was. I felt the reason behind Dev's actions were weak and she forgave to easily and quickly I also felt that she used Ayd as a place holder. As for Ayd his actions were just as horrible as the others and his were these least explained. I don't much care for cheating and I don't much care for whining inner monologue that exemplifies bad decisions and hurts. This was just not my cup of tee and sometimes if I push through and make it to the end I sometimes wind up liking a book but at chapter 35 with what is happening I just don't want to continue reading this overly dramatic story line.

Frustrated

I wanted to listen to this book but the narration is so bad I couldn’t even get thru Chapter 1.
Wouldn’t recommend spending a credit.

Beware: characters are HS teens

I kept wondering how old these characters were. Then finally it mentions an 18th birthday. Why would I want to read a book about kids having sex!!! I didn’t even finish it.

Long but okay

The book was okay. I didn’t like the way Ms. Davis went with the couple engaged in sexual acts with other people. Even tho long, I really enjoyed it. I also liked the ending too

HEAVY. Highly recommend.

I don't think the description does this title justice. This is a extremely well written story, but it is also breathtakingly painful. I was not prepared to experience the many tearful emotions based on the description. I will say that I predicted the reason for Aidens motives, but not the many outcomes that resulted as the result. If you want an engaging, emotional story to dive into, this book is for you. I highly recommend.

SOOOOOO SAD

honestly had a hard time getting through this one. it was just seriously sad at every corner,..... rediculously bad decision making and hideously mean things done by every single character throughout the story,... except for Aidyn I guess,... I mean seriously poor Aidyn,... ugh,... I was sure there was no way a HEA would occur, but the description promised it, so I kept going.... there were some parts that felt to really drag on. I was pleasantly surprised that the HEA did happen tho I guess,... but still,... come on!!! poor freaking Aidyn! she definitely did a good job making you feel for these characters :)

Teenage angst to the extreme

I tried to listen to this whole book hoping it would get better but it just kept getting worse. Maybe the fact that I'm not a teenager affected my opinion, I don't know. I only got about halfway through. Maybe if there was some of the guys point of view to explain some of what they were doing it wouldn't have been so bad. The girl just kept getting more ridiculous. Once she made the ridiculous decision she did to completely change her life instead of being reasonable I could listen to anymore of it. .
