A nice start to a paranormal series

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. I think this book is a nice start to a paranormal/Arthurian series. There is a fair amount of today mixed with the yesteryear in this story.

What did you like best about this story?

I very much enjoyed Alex Hyde-White's narration of this book. He gave each character the proper emotion needed to tell the story.

Which scene was your favorite?

I like the part where Victoria was able to break free from her captors.

Any additional comments?

Hunter's Moon is the first in a 5 part series about the Arthurian legends and mixed with some paranormal ... vampires and the like. Victoria believes in and sees the Fae, something her mother and sister can't. After her sister is injured, Victoria is sent to live with her Aunt and Uncle, who are horrible people. As Victoria grows up, she finds that she has a connection to the Fae and we in turn see what happens when she is forced to summon them.

I look forward to the rest of the books in this series. I can't what to see where it goes next.

A Fairy Tale with Lots of Fae

When the majority of the Fae left the earthly realm they left a prophecy that someday the seers and guardians, humans and Fae pairs, would be reborn.

Hunters Moon by Geraldine Allie is a lovely book for teens and adults. I was hooked quickly and enjoyed this original fantasy tale. I would have liked a bit more background and additional information about her time away from her family… though I enjoyed the transition used to jump over about six years of time.

Narration by Alex Hyde-White was well done. I really enjoyed the personality he put into each character along with his timing and rhythm. I also admit that listening to the narrator's voice is a sheer pleasure.

Victoria a human girl who has the ability to see the Fae and other magical creatures lives in a small cabin with her mother and younger sister until one fateful day. The story follows Victoria through happiness, sadness, brutality and bravery in the company of humans, vampires and all types of Fae.

And so the prophecy begins and will continue to unfold. I was very happy to listen to and review this enjoyable tale,

decent start on a fae fantasy romance

This book wasn't bad - it just felt like it wasn't fully written yet. The writing was pretty solid, but could have used a bit more editing and reworking for most impact and better flow. The characters and their alternating POVs worked, but overall the book felt more like an introduction to their stories than the full novel. My only quibble was that the historical time period seemed to shift - with modern terms and traditional/fantasy terms used together to make the setting a bit muddy. The narration by Alex Hyde-White is very good. I think that the author shows promise and that with a bit more experience, this could develop into a really satisfying fantasy series.

Delightful Action Fantasy

Where does Hunters Moon rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Making a conscious decision to step outside of my usual literary fare, I was shocked to find myself so intrigued by this youthful fantasy. The author's skills have given me a new appreciation for the entertainment value of this genre.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I was particularly impressed with several of the minor characters including the child, Monica, as well as the some of the distinctive characterization of some of the incidental inmates that had very clear and specific personalities.

Which scene was your favorite?

The early scenes between the two sisters had an unusual ring of truth. And, of course, the demise of one villain with the help of a unicorn was a pleasant surprise.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

You'll look forward to the sequels!

Any additional comments?

The narrator, Alex Hyde-White, is superb! This young author's simplicity of style and action show strong promise for an extremely successful future.

A Great New World of Wonder!!

What did you love best about Hunters Moon?

The development of the characters and the story, was so complete that I could 'see' the world!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Percy. I love how he knew he was 'different' in the mortal world, but didn't realize just how special he was until it was time to know!

What about Alex Hyde-White’s performance did you like?

Everything! Mr. Hyde-White is an amazing actor and brought very believable life to all of the characters.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

Looking forward to future installments in this series!

My 8 year old and I enjoyed it

Any additional comments?

There were a few dark parts, but nothing she couldn't handle. The narrator was smooth and deftly let the story come through.

A must listen!

Would you consider the audio edition of Hunters Moon to be better than the print version?

I have not read the printed version but I think I'd rather listen then read this book. It was such an easy listen. He made it so easy to hear the different characters and moods/feelings during every scene. I think that warrants a listen instead of a read.

What other book might you compare Hunters Moon to and why?

I can't think of one like this one but it's not often I find a fantasy book that I enjoy enough to listen or read. This being said, there is a movie called Stardust & Secrets of Moon Acres that this reminds me of, and the Golden Compass with the mature-ness of Twilight or better (much better)...it's a hard book to categorize because it's different and more enjoyable then those I just stated.

Have you listened to any of Alex Hyde-White’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No I haven't but I want to...

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I'm horrible at tag lines but: "love conquers all" --- sounds cheesy but knowing the pain and desperation Victoria went through and that love broke through all that and made her into the women she was supposed to be and broke the first of the moon riddles make me say that tag line might work or something similar.
