Publisher's summary

Sunny's not sure she's even looking for Mr. Maybe, when her friends decide to find her Mr. Right.

Sunny Vale considers herself a dog-loving, romance novel-loving homebody. But her life goes from dull to deadly when her book club fires her from her own love life and sets her up on six blind dates - one of whom might be with a murderer. More trouble arrives in the dead of night, in the form of Jake Landon, a mysterious stranger, who breaks into her neighbor's house and possibly her heart. But Jake is packing more than a loaded gun in his well-fitting Levi's. He brings an arsenal of secrets and plenty of heat to Sunny's ho-hum summer.

Jake Landon finds himself caught up in the capers of the sexy blonde in the house next door. But he has his own agenda, which doesn't involve playing hero to a curvy second-grade teacher and babysitting her panty-puking puppy. He's got other problems like fiery explosions, a missing person...and a parade of jerks Sunny insists on dating.

Could Sunny's Mr. Right be right under her nose? Even though Jake is gorgeous, likes her dog, and has abs she can crack an egg on, can she really go out with him if he's just murdered her next door neighbor?

Fun Listen!

I found this book to be the perfect combination of cozy mystery and romantic comedy. The story was cute and original. I loved the characters in this book and hopes the series continues in audible. The narrator was perfect for this book and is very talented. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I will definitely look for more books by both to listen to.

What a hoot!

Are you after a murder mystery with a side of humor? This book is packed with entertaining scenes that left me laughing out loud as well as a serious central plot line.

I liked all the characters but Sunny is a real gem who you can't help but feel a connection with.

The book moves quickly and covers a lot of ground. The blind dates are hilariously funny, I didn't know whether to feel for Sunny, the dates or both, but I laughed until I cried it was so funny.

If other books in the series are like this one then it's going to be a series that I follow.

It helps as well that the narration was excellent, I forgot I was only listening to one person, the character voices were convincing and the delivery was fantastic.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

A group of women friends who formed a book club.

Sunny is the only woman of the group who has never been married. The other women decide to set her up on blind dates for six Saturdays. Sometimes funny, disgusting, silly and frightening. This is going on while a hunk, Jake, has moved into the house of Sunny's missing neighbor Walter. Although Sunny and Jake get along great, the friends think Jake murdered Walter.

Loved it!!

A fun romantic-comedy mystery with a wonderful cast of characters and plenty of laugh out loud moments.

Sunny is cute, hilarious and goofy. Her disastrous series of first dates had me in stitches!
Jake was adorable as the hunky, helpful next door neighbour. I loved how Sunny debriefed him at the end of each of her dates. They had a cute relationship starting from how they first met which was really funny. I loved this couple so much.

The mystery aspect of the story was much lighter in plot; a missing person case which resolved pretty quick at the end of the story.

I liked Sunny's group of friends and I will enjoy reading their stories in the rest of the series.

The narration was brilliant. The narrator performed the variety of characters so well I forgot that I was listening to just one voice. I would definitely choose to continue this series in audio format.

This was fun and the friendships were great!

Narration was a good match for the story’s lightness and humour.

There was a mystery, and a romance, but my favourite part was the group of friends and how supportive they were of one another.

This does need a trigger warning. I was caught off guard and deeply distressed by it. I’d put this under a spoiler warning except that I would have appreciated a warning before going in to this so I wasn’t blindsided and I think anyone else with difficulties handling this kind of event would appreciate it, too.

Great Read

Another Saturday Night and I Ain't Got No Body (Page Turners #1) by Jennie Marts was a great read. The book club that Sunny is a part of has decided to put Sunny's love life in their hands. They decided to set her up for six blind dates. Things get crazy when her neighbor goes missing and someone shows up at his door and claims to be his grandson. I loved reading this book and can't wait to read more by Jennie Marts.

Found another amazing writer

I don't remember how I got to have this ebook but I thank the powers that be that I got it. This is truly a gem. I laughed out loud several times and can't wait to ear the other stories.
The way Jennie Marts portraits her characters is nothing short of brilliant. We all know a Hank but they look so normal that we only understand how disturbed they are when they slip and get caught.
My next credit is going to get me the second book. hurrayyy

Mystery with close friendships at the core

If you could sum up Another Saturday Night and I Ain't Got No Body in three words, what would they be?

Engaging, Delightful, Mysterious

What did you like best about this story?

My favorite thing about this story was the core group of female friends in the Page Turners book club. I was impressed that the group's ages ranged from teenager to senior citizen. Edna is my favorite. (She reminds me of Grandma Mazur from the Stephanie Plum series.)
This is a fun cozy mystery with likable characters.

Which character – as performed by Stacey Glemboski – was your favorite?

The narrator handled all the characters very well. She used variation to reflect the different character's traits. For example, Maggie is a lawyer so her voice was a little more clipped and serious than the others.

If you could take any character from Another Saturday Night and I Ain't Got No Body out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Edna - She sounds like pure fun.

Any additional comments?

Blind Dates

I found this to be a good, mostly sweet, romantic comedy with serious undertones full of amusingly clumsy eccentric characters. Girl meets next door boy and unpredictable things follow. The quirky characters were a joy to get to know and revealed internal struggles that we can all relate to.
This was a perfect book to listen to on audible. The narrator did a good job.
In all, it left me with a smile.
