Publisher's summary

When Jennifer Scott arrived at the doorstep of a grand 16th Arrondissement apartment as a foreign exchange student, she was greeted by the woman who would become her mentor and the inspiration for the way she lived long after her time abroad was over. Madame Chic took the casual California teenager under her wing, revealing the secrets of how the French elevate the little things in life to the art of living.

Each chapter of Lessons from Madame Chic reveals a valuable secret Jennifer learned while under Madame Chic's tutelage in Paris - tips you can incorporate into your own life, no matter where you live or the size of your budget. Embracing the classically French aesthetic of quality over quantity, aspiring Parisiennes will learn to master the art of eating (deprive yourself not), dressing (the 10-item wardrobe), grooming (le no-makeup look), and living à la française. From entertaining with easy flair and formality to cultivating allure while living an active, modern life, Lessons from Madame Chic is the essential handbook for anyone wanting to incorporate that Parisian je ne sais quoi into her daily life.

Great advice for a lovely way of life

The narrator read the book in a breathless, yet monotonous manner. Worth it, but still.

Embarrassingly bad French pronunciation

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The narrator pronounces the French phrases in this book so poorly that I have to read the Kindle version to figure out what she is trying to say. Plus she is breathy with an annoying whiny tone better suited to a relentlessly depressing modern novel than a style guide.

Lessons from Madame Chic

The content did not disappoint, but the narrator was very hard to listen too. I almost quit, but persevered.

Nauseous Narrator

Even though the content was good I had a difficult time following the story because of the nauseous narrator.

I really enjoyed this audible!

I really enjoyed listening to the observations that Jennifer made of these two french families and French life i general. i have never been to France but know people that have. It became clear to me that the values that my friends adopted were Parisian.

Also i loved the reader! She sounded like someone from Southern California. She acted in a way that reflected what i would have expected the author to be like!

If you want to live life with high standards rather than just a high cost of living this book will elevate you!
Thank you Jenifer! You feel like a friend!

So Inspiring

I got so much out of this manual for a life well lived. Now, when I catch myself being lazy I immediately think, I wasn’t very chic today! There are some very doable, tangible suggestions offered in an enjoyable, relatable manner. I thoroughly recommend.
