50 shades of soylent green?

In another horrific story by the slash-master Tim Miller, we follow a documentary camera crew deep into the middle of a cult, complete with questionable dietary needs. Not for the weak stomached, Fertile Fields is an amalgam of sustainable farming, cult mentality, and the most awful gore you can't imagine. The narrator did okay, but I gave her less stars because when she made mistakes, she didn't bother to edit them out. It was kind of annoying. Her voice is pleasant; I just can't overlook the number of mistakes. All around a decent book. More like having someone do a live reading.

Wretched Narration

Did anyone listen to the book before releasing it to the public? The narration was just awful. She kept mispronouncing one of the main character’s name and sounded like a robot most of the time. In one instance she even called Manual Michael. The book was not bad, but a bad narrator can ruin the best book. This woman did her best to turn the listener off any further books narrated by her.

Tim is amazing, in a depraved horrifying way.

This short story follows a film crew as they are invited to investigate a depraved sex cult masquerading as a religion. The truth comes out and the depravity soon comes to light. I have read several books by tim and the others writing in this seriously depraved genre and the story plot and depravity is actually quite good.

This narrator is likely the hardest to listen to I have come across in Audible. The monotonous drone of her voice is hard to get used to but the pauses and breath control is absolutely horrible placing extremely long pauses where there should not be any in a sentence. Maybe these are a fumbled page turn, or narrator lost their place reading from one line to the next but it reminds me of listening to a first or second grade child reading and taking great pains to try to sound out words and long pauses between. Its difficult to focus on the words being spoken with all these unnecessary flow destroying breaks. The pace the narrator reads at can only be described as "zootopian DMV sloth". If you have seen the movie "Zootopia", you know what I'm talking about.

Now for the Sound editing, this leaves as much to be desired as the narrator. There are countless repeated parts of sentences from what i can only imagine is different takes spliced together, or breaks from one chapter to the next. Also there is a consistent high pitched hiss that plays like static the entire time the narrator is speaking. It becomes overly apparent when the sound editing has a break, maybe between parts or chapters or whatever. doesnt somebody at Audible proof this stuff before it is released?

the worst audio recording ever

the book was a decent quick listen but the recording is so terrible. it really sounds like a raw and unedited recording, the reader mispronounced every other word, paused in the middle of sentences and would resay words midsentence. the story is a nice quick gore fest, the audio though, it's just awful.
