I did not realize at the time that this volume is a word for word repeat of the second half of The Great Alliance. Don't buy if you've already Volume 3
Probably need to listen to this again to assimilate more of the details - there are certainly lots of them, all straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak! It's good to hear the recount of events from Sir Winston himself - this book certainly gives a good insight into the many different aspects of the decisions that had to be made. I've now listened to volumes 1, 2, 3 and 4 of this series, and am looking forward to listening to the next two volumes. Then I may take my own advice and start listening to them all again! I can thoroughly recommend these books for anyone who is really interested in WWII from the British point of view - and from Sir Winston Churchill's in particular. If you just want an overview of events, though, they're probably not for you.
What did you like most about Winston S. Churchill: The History of the Second World War, Volume 4 - The Hinge of Fate?
This is a very well abridged account of WW2 in the words of the outstanding leader who had responsibility for the destiny of Britain throughout the vital years of the conflict.
What did you like best about this story?
This audio book gives a real insight into the top level strategic thinking that eventually carried the nation to victory.
Have you listened to any of Michael Jayston’s other performances? How does this one compare?
I have listened to the other volumes of this Churchill history which are also excellent.
Any additional comments?
A fascinating account of a most interesting period in our history.
