Facts Brah

Going in to the book I had the thought it was going to be all pop culture but it had everything. I was born in 87 so it was really awesome hearing about all the stuff that was happening around the time I was born. I'm really loving all the Bill O'Neill trivia books.

Fun but way to short

Very good way to pass the time at work just wish it was longer so much that could have been added and could have done without the quiz after every year

Opinions & terrible narration

I expect trivia to be facts, not narrative based on opinion. Also, narrator attempts to impersonate people like Ronald Reagan, with cringe-worthy results.

My Head is spinning, and I lived through it,

I started college fall of 1979, which all my college days where during the early 1980's. I started my first teaching job in On January 6, 1986, at Heights Jr, in Farmington, NM. weeks latter the Challenger Exploded. I held several jobs during the 80's, School Teacher, Camp Dishwasher, Security Guard, Armed Security Guard, Teacher, High school Teacher, Module Instructor to the sever and profound Mentally Retard Adults. But I was so engrossed in my work and me I missed the decade, This book takes it year by year and tells what Reagan did, along with with what along with what else happened in the world.

Great Read

The Great Book of 1980s Trivia: Crazy Random Facts & 80s Trivia (Trivia Bill's Nostalgic Trivia Books) by Bill O'Neill was a great read. It is a very thorough guide to what happened during the 1980s. I really enjoy all of Bill O’Neills trivia books and this one is no exception.

1980's history

Even back when I was a history major in college in early "twenty-teens", I did not learn all that much about American history post WW-II, and I can't ever remember a course covering past the Civil Rights era of the 1960's. So it was a real pleasure to finally learn about the 80's in a fun and informative manner.

Mike Alger, the narrator, is your typical historical narrator. Everything is pronounced crisply and the tone flows smoothly, although he does occasionally forget to give subtle vocal clues that he's moved from a body paragraph to a new heading.

This 90's kid learned a lot, and I bet you will too.

Wonderful trip down memory lane

This is the third Bill O'Neill trivia audiobook that I've listened to, and it's as enjoyable as the others. I was a teenager during the 80s and, like most GenX'ers, I have a soft spot in my heart for this formative decade. My experience of the 80's was viewed through the rose-coloured filter of youth, so an audiobook like this is a useful reminder of the not-so-rosy aspects of that decade. Nostalgia aside, O'Neill has got a good formula here with the way he structures these books. Interesting and informative, with lots of details organized into a short volume organized by year. O'Neill has used different narrators for each of the trivia audiobooks I've heard so far, and all have been excellent choices. Mike Alger has a great voice for this type of audiobook.

An Enjoyable Listen

This book is an overlook of the 1980s and is done very well. Mr. O'Neill brings the trivia across in an interesting way. He not only touches on the frivolous times of the 80s he also reminds us of the important things which came to pass during this decade. For those of us who grew up in this period, it's a recap and for those who came after, it's a way to learn what happened. The narrator did a wonderful job telling the snip-its of this time.

5 star trivia review of the 80’s.

Having grown up during the 80’s, it has always been my most favorite decade. Listening to this book was a great “Blast from the Past”. Mr. O’Neill picked the best of the decade for this volume of trivia. This book brought back so many great memories and also reminded me of some of the serious events that I have forgotten. The narrator, Mike Alger did a great job. My first book my Bill O’Neill and I can wait to read more of his works.
