A Great Resource!

The collection of originally delivered speeches is a preciious research. The reading of letters written by the history-makers involved in his campaigns and anecdotes of those present help to establish the contextual settings of the speeches.

I think it's great!

From his own mouth

If there is a print version of this book, it lacks the one thing that makes this reading great, actual recordings of the voice of Martin Luther King, Jr. This is a two-part set of the speeches and sermons of MLK. The first half is the speeches, including his most famous speeches such as "I Have A Dream," his Nobel Peace Prize speech, and his speech on the Montgomery Capitol steps after the march from Selma. Hearing his own words in his own voice shows how great a communicator he truly was.
The second half is his sermons. There are several sermons that could be read today in any church and they would be just as powerful today as they were when he first delivered them. With today's social struggles, perhaps it would be good to replay this to the population at large. It is clear in many of these speeches just how much the struggle of non-violence was taking out of him as you can hear the weariness in his voice.
Each sermon and speech is introduced by a person who was instrumental in the life of MLK. The opening speech, his speech before the Bus Boycott, was written by Rosa Parks and read by Coretta Scott King and is by far the most powerful introduction in the book. Many of the other introductions were interesting but some ended up being either braggadocios for their relationship with MLK or an introduction to himself/herself with King as an afterthought. During the introductions, I wanted to speed up the speed to 1.75 (my normal listening speed) to get through them. Of course, when Dr. King spoke, I always set it back to 1.00 speed because I wanted to hear it in his cadence, his emotions, and his real voice.
Highly recommended.

My Journey with Martian Luther king.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Most definitely. The Journey through the sermons of this Iconic Leader has to be experienced by all who is on the road to repatriation. In hearing the testimonials of the people who had personal contact with Martin, i felt the warmth of a real man touching the souls of the world..

What was one of the most memorable moments of Martin Luther King?

The letter he received while recovering in Hospital from the young girl. The thought that a child could see the truth.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The thought of being in the audience and listening to a man who has verbalizing a way of freedom and peace. A truly powerful feat indeed.
The fact that he was only 39 years old.will stay with me for life time.

Any additional comments?

These works should really inspire any listener to speak out about life .

A Joy To Experience A Revelation

If you could sum up Martin Luther King in three words, what would they be?

A God Send.

What did you like best about this story?

His passion. His devotion. His commitment. His honesty. His faith. His beliefs. His Dream. The difference he made to help to free black people and assisted in giving us a voice and freedom to have togetherness and strength. His memories, his vision!

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

They prepared us in what was coming in the chapter, and what we were to expect. They prepared us and gave us a clearer, nearer understanding on what was to follow in the book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. It was over several months... in intervals!

Any additional comments?

Thank God for Martin Luther King and his teachings, and passion and sermons. God had surely blessed this man and gave him a mission on earth to perform, and perform he did! Thank God for Martin Luther King, and giving him the gift of life.

May he R.I.P
