Splendid, Fast-Paced, and Unforgettable

Like the first volume of Dahl’s autobiography, Boy, this is NOT A CHILDREN’S BOOK, despite the cartoonish cover art. It’s a splendidly entertaining collection of true life adult adventures that readers from young adult through senior years will find absolutely entrancing and un-put-down-able. We especially loved Dahl’s firsthand stories of attacks by lions and giant deadly snakes, but his all-too-believable and harrowing tales of service in what has to be the most incompetently run branch of the British armed forces during WWII are excellent as well. The ending was unexpectedly touching, and I cried while listening on my way home from work. This is a book I will treasure and listen to again. Grade: A+
