Publisher's summary

By early 1945 the destruction of the German Nazi state seems certain. The Allied forces, led by American generals George S. Patton and Dwight D. Eisenhower, are gaining control of Europe, leaving German leaders scrambling. Facing defeat, Adolf Hitler flees to a secret bunker with his new wife, Eva Braun, and his beloved dog, Blondi. It is there that all three would meet their ends, thus ending the Third Reich and one of the darkest chapters of history.

Hitler's Last Days is a gripping account of the death of one of the most reviled villains of the 20th century - a man whose regime of murder and terror haunts the world even today. Adapted from Bill O'Reilly's historical thriller Killing Patton, this audiobook will have young listeners - and grown-ups, too - hooked on history.

Gripping and Tragic

As with all literary works in this series by Bill O'Reilly the history comes alive with comprehensive analysis and captivating narration of many of the important events leading up to the final event that give the book it's name.

I was humbled and inspired by the accounts of our (United States of America) nation's greatest generation battling for their lives and the future of the free world in the Battle of the Bulge in Bastone, Belgium and surrounding forests. So impressive General George S. Patton Junior's leadership and tenacity. So noteworthy the fact that Germans both military and civilian fled to American lines toward the end of the war knowing they would be treated with respect and dignity in captivity. So tragic a life was Adolf Hitler. What a nightmare for everyone involved or affected by the Third Reich. Permanent stain on humanity though full of powerful lessons to all future generations - may we never forget.

Excellent read. Highly recommend.

Accessible and compelling

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book for its ease of understanding and the information it contains on historical events and the people who were part of it.

Have you listened to any of Bill O'Reilly - introduction and Robert Petkoff ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This was the first I read by performed by Robert Petkoff. He is excellent. Bill O'Reilly's reading is good for the introduction. I'm glad that Petkoff read the text of the book though, since his voice is much more pleasing to the ear and he obviously has acting training. His phrasing ability to portray the thoughts and words of the characters is top notch.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I never want to listen to a book in one sitting unless it is a murder mystery with the whodunit in the last 5 pages like one by Dean Kootnz. Even then, I would prefer to extend my enjoyment of a work of art by a consummate artist. That said, this book is gripping and moves along. It grabs the imagination.

Any additional comments?

I commend Mr. O'Reilly for making the effort to put history before the hearts and minds of youth and even adults with this book. We need citizens who know history.

History, There is always something to learn.

Told from the perspective of weaving in other events taking place within the timeline. Well Done.

a very detailed history

While this is a very detailed history of Hitler, none of the High command of Germany, escaping to Argentina was ever mentioned, while Hitler possibly didn't escape, a very large German population did, in fact escape, and is well documented. as the Russians have yet to provide any actual proof or evidence of Hitlers death, other the the comple overuse of fuel to burn a body that they claim was Hitler and his Wife, Eva.

History comes to life

Bill O'Rdilly did a superb job bringing the heroic acts of the Allies, and the despicable acts of the Nazis, to life in this well- written work. It was wonderfully narrated. It is a compelling piece of literature.
