Publisher's Summary

Dr. R. Paul St. Amand is a renowned endocrinologist and has taught at UCLA for over 43 years. He is currently assistant clinical professor at the UCLA School of Medicine, where he has developed a remarkable treatment for a painful disease that affects millions of people. Muscular pain, fatigue, bladder problems, insomnia, and hypoglycemia are all symptoms of fibromyalgia. But for many, the disease has not been properly diagnosed, and treatments are ineffectual. After 40 years of research, Dr. St. Amand concludes that the best prescription is guaifenesin, a relatively simple drug. When this drug is coupled with diet modifications, the debilitating effects of fibromyalgia can be halted and even reversed.
If you or a member of your family suffers from fibromyalgia, this book is essential listening. Dr. St. Amand's clear medical explanations are accompanied by personal testimonies from patients. Audie Award-winning narrator Nelson Runger, acclaimed for his readings of nonfiction and technical texts, makes it even easier to absorb the critical information.

A Godsend

I have had a physical copy of this book at my disposal for nearly a decade and could never get through even the introduction because of inherent trouble focusing. This has allowed me to refine my Guai treatment plan and given me even deeper insight to my disease.

Must Read for anyone with FMS

This book offers hope to those diagnosed with fibromyalgia, in a world full of doctors who are not even willing to treat patients with the disease, or manage to only skim the surface of the illness with medication after medication to treat only the symptoms. Dr. R. Paul St. Amand is an FMS sufferer himself, but as an 83 year old man still in private practice, writing books, and associate professor at UCLA, is a walking advertisement for his own treatment. Rather than preying on FMS sufferes, Dr. St. Amand is by contrast sticking his neck out for his patients by spreading the knowledge of the guaifenesin treatment, despite the fact that a large pharmacutical company has not been tempted enough to step forward and fund a "real" scientific study to verify guaifenesin's effectiveness. All Dr. St. Amand has to go on are the thousands of patients he has treated successfully over his 40 years in medicine. As of this writing, the doctor only treats fibromyalgia patients in his modest office. In a world full of doctors ready to pounce on FMS patients and lure them with their expensive private label, miracle "supplements" and medical practices that by the way, don't take insurance, Dr. St. Amand uses a fairly inexpensive medication with no side effects to treat his patients, with success. The book simply shares the knowledge he, his staff, and his patients already know- guaifenesin is the best hope we have for now, and it works to reverse the progress of the disease. People get better. And although his has not yet had the opportunity to see solid "scientific" findings published in a medical journal, he is sharing his 40 years of patient treatment history in the hopes that he will help people beyond those going to his practice, and perhaps inspire another generation of doctors to carry on his lifelong work to better the lives of people with fibromyalgia. If you or a loved one has FMS or CFS, you owe it to them to give his protocol a chance.
