Publisher's summary

The number one New York Times best seller by the six-time Super Bowl champion

The first book by Tampa Bay Buccaneers and former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady - the six-time Super Bowl champion who is still reaching unimaginable heights of excellence at 42 years old - a gorgeously illustrated and deeply practical “athlete’s bible” that reveals Brady’s revolutionary approach to sustained peak performance for athletes of all kinds and all ages.

In this new edition of The TB12 Method, Tom Brady further explains and details the revolutionary training, conditioning, and wellness system that has kept him atop the NFL at an age when most players are deep into retirement. Brady - along with the expert Body Coaches at TB12, the performance lifestyle brand he cofounded in 2013 with Alex Guerrero - explain the principles and philosophies of pliability, a paradigm-shifting fitness concept that focuses on a more natural, healthier way of exercising, training, and living. Filled with lessons from Brady’s own training regimen, The TB12 Method provides step-by-step guidance on how develop and maintain one’s own peak performance while dramatically decreasing injury risks. This illustrated, highly visual manual also offers more effective approaches to functional strength and conditioning, proper hydration, supplementation, cognitive fitness, restorative sleep, and nutritious, easy-to-execute recipes to help readers fuel-up and recover.

Brady steadfastly believes that the TB12 approach has kept him competitive while extending his career, and that it can make any athlete, male or female, in any sport and at any level achieve his or her own peak performance and do what they love, better and for longer. With instructions, drills, photos, in-depth case studies that Brady himself has used, along with personal anecdotes and experiences from his legendary career, The TB12 Method gives you a better way to train and get results with Tom Brady himself as living proof.

It Works

There have been a number of negative reviews about this book (i.e. ghost written, lack of science, personal commercial for TB12 products). I am the father of pro athletes and was involved in coaching. I bought the book because I am interested in what makes great athletes i.e.Tom Brady tick. The book did not disappoint.

Brady seems to be off the charts in everything he does. The water he uses to hydrate, the food he uses for fuel, the special pajamas he sleeps in, and of coarse, his pliability workouts. While he pushes TB12 products in the book, he does not say you need to follow his workout or use his products or eat exactly what he eats. He does lay out, in simple language and in an easy to follow pdf, basics that you can follow using equipment and foam rollers available at most gyms or at a low cost. The same basics he has used over the years to accomplish what he has achieved as one of the greatest quarterbacks in the NFL.

I decided to put theory to the test and follow the TB12 method for a month, to see what would happen. I was not as strict as Brady in what I did. For example I did not come close to his discipline in what I ate, My pliability routine was foam rollers vs. deep massage, I substituted a run and a personal workout for his bands, did not spend the 4 hours a day in the gym that he spends in the off season and no special pajamas. Result 4 weeks later: eliminated nagging back, shoulder and knee pain I was having, dropped 8 pounds, feel healthier and more alert. My average 5k run training speed (I'm still pretty slow) increased by 20%. I intend to reread several chapters in the book and add some of the things Brady recommended that I didn't implement over the test month.

A lot of Brady's regimen is not new. What he does do in this book is put everything together in an easy to read manual. I gave it a 5 star rating and have to say thanks to Brady for publishing this book, ghost written or not. Books like this, from athletes who have walked the walk, are hard to find, It definitely has the potential to be a life/training changer.

Would you listen to The TB12 Method again? Why?

To find the PDF, go into your Library (via the web) and next to the title, there will be a 'PDF' link. For further instructions, do a quick google search 'audible pdf download'. I saw everyone was having trouble finding it so I'm using my review to help :) love the book.

Motivation and belief to feel better

I started this book about 9 months after a back surgery with the hopes of conditioning my body to prevent the practices and habits that caused my body to break down in the first place. I am going to commit to tb12 pliability approach to facilitate an active pain free life. So far it is working albeit I’m a bit sore as I condition my muscles to be more pliable but it is nothing like the discomfort associated with my earlier back problems.

A Look into the GOATs Lifestyle

Solid advice on a performance centered holistic lifestyle.
For people who are even somewhat into health and wellness, I don't think you'll find too many of the concepts in this book to be earth shattering. (Drink plenty of water, ingest protein for healthy muscles, try not to Veggies instead of eat junk food, etc) That being said, I think there is enough solid information in this book to provide a great foundation for understanding the concepts that he uses to achieve his desired health/wellness and performance goals. The book definitely doesn't skimp on details as all the equipment, products, supplies and procedures are laid out in easy to understand ways.

Being a healthcare practitioner myself, I think some of the claims in the book are scientifically off-base. Tom claims that he doesn't get sunburned due to his hydration levels . I don't think you'll find a dermatologist in the world who would say that being well hydrated will stop you from getting sunburned. Early in the book it says the primary function of muscles is to protect bones. Again, sorry, that's just wrong. While that may be a side benefit, the primary function of muscles is to move joints and keep us up right. I don't think any concepts in the book are inherently dangerous but eliminating some of the "out there" type claims and citing some peer-reviewed research would definitely help their cause.

I'll pass...

I'm impressed - that I made it half way through this book. Wish I could have those hours of my life back. Overly redundant about pliability, which can mainly be accomplished with the assistance of a TB12 certified blah, blah, blah. What a disappointment.

Where do I get the pdf they speak about? The audio book was great but the illustrations are necessary.

Short on science...

The book covers the training / nutritional approaches of a top athlete to sustain his performance into his 40's... The scientific content isn't groundbreaking (or entirely accurate) and much of the book seems more like a sales pitch for a new TB12 training facility, program, and supplement line. I suspect Tom had little to do with the content. The book is ideal for those interested in learning Tom's approach to training / longevity in the NFL. Most exercise and medical professionals won't take much from this book, other than reaffirming current trends in training / nutrition.

Informative and well worth the read!

Great book, I love to learn and this book didn't disappoint! I knew some of the things explained in the book but was doing a few things wrong in my workouts. I can now easily gain more benefit and recovery by making some changes. Hydration, hydration, hydration, we all know it but he gives many reasons to do it. The book lists the foods to reduce inflammation, who doesn't need to use that knowledge! I was excited to learn about bioceramic sleepwear!

Presented well, just useless content

Quick summary, eat a normal healthy diet, stretch, drink lots of water. Oh and buy all of the TB12 supplements that go along with the diet and staying hydrated.

A different approach to fitness

Being a fitness nut myself I have listened to, watched and tried a lot of methods so after a while you get a feeling of what is right and what is wrong. The TB12 book ticks all of my "sounds right" and "makes sense" boxes, so I really encourage you to give it a try.

I have made a long list of things I want to try out from the TB12 method and while not all advice will find their way in my daily routines, a lot of Tom's advice is going to change what I do on a daily basis.
