Has a great summary of all the most current research on gut micro-biome and health. Very good and practical guide to healthy living with a the right food, lifestyle, nutrients, and gut bugs. Useful, easy to understand, and clear.

Slightly better than average diet book based on ideas contained, but that's not saying much. Includes the obligatory glowing testimonials from closely controlled victims and promotion of the authors supplement line. Could have been half as long. The short version is, eat a high fiber paleo diet, plus limited beans and unsweetened dairy, probiotics and soluble fiber supplements. As eating that much animal food is unethical and promotes cancer if you live longer than cave man, i.e. over 25, it doesn't work for me. Narrator sounds like a pseudo-snooty ice queen. If you like the typical, hopeful, its not your fault dear it's the system/genetics/etc., diet as self-help book tone, it's a useful way to get the information. Otherwise The Good Gut is a much more scientific, practical read promoting a healthier long term dietary solution.

Must read for anyone interested in gut health, even if you don't need to lose weight ... even more important if you do!
