If you could sum up The Five Forces of Wellness in three words, what would they be?

Dr. Hyman knocks it out of the park AGAIN. He continues to tell us how to be well, how to heal our diseases and exposes Big Pharma and Big Food to us "simple folk." I have read and participated in the 10 Day Detox program and have been healed of a multitude of issues and lost weight. This program goes into greater detail explaining why we are sick, and the effects of toxins, chemicals and poisons in our systems. He is the new science, the new medicine and the new doctor, and, truthfully, there is nothing "new" here in terms of what we should eat - organic, pesticide free, whole foods that our Creator gave us, what our grandparents grew in their farms and ate. Have a listen - apply it - and watch what happens.

Would you listen to The Five Forces of Wellness again? Why?

Yes. I will most likely listen to it again... so I can go back, make notes and write some stuff down. Has a lot of good information.

Which character – as performed by Mark Hyman – was your favorite?

I'm pretty sure Mark Hyman himself was speaking. That is what drew me to this book, compared to all the other audibles I thought, " This man sounds really sincere". and I looked him up on Youtube. After watching a 5 min video of him I decided I want this book. He is a very popular and likeable Functional Medicine Doctor. All doctors can learn a thing or 2 from this man!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

All of it ! From start to finish. When he talked about his personal story w/ mercury and fatigue issues, it really makes him more likeable and relatable. It also put me in the mind set of some doctors. Why they think and act the way they do, why they treat symptoms and care nothing about the cause and the way the entire body works as a whole. Why they cover up symptoms and force pills down our throats. Because I have systemic candida and I get passed around from doctor to doctor and they always tell me nothing is wrong. Like are you kidding me?! Something is def wrong. So he explained why they think the way they do, and what we can do to help ourselves and really take control of our lives. Not just diet but he talks about chemicals, toxins, tests we can take, what to eat, what herbs and supplements to take, oxidative stress , mercury toxicity , common complaints people go to the doctor with he see's things in a different light. He believes that we should go to the doctor before we are sick, not when we are sick. So he is big on preventative measure. He talks about so much more, he is just a wealth of information.

Any additional comments?

I suffer from Candida and can't eat anything. I can only eat meat and some veggies. My family thinks I'm crazy .. and its so hard to sit around and watch them eat whatever the want( which is mainly junk) . But for the first time ever I finally understand that it is THEY who are the crazy and weird ones. I am doing whats right for my body! Our bodies werent made to eat refined sugars and white flour, processed stuff, our ancestors never ate the stuff we eat which is why most americans have leaky gut and die. He backs up his research with a lot of studies. I def reccomend listening to this. I'm going to have my boyfriend and my parents listen to this!

Just listening to this has given me some hope for myself, that there are some good doctors out there! I just need to find them!
