I don't normally write reviews about health/diet books but the ideas in this book have really made a difference in my life. I started this diet about two months ago and I have dropped about 30 lbs (from 207 to 176 lbs). When I started, my dream weight was 180 lbs. Now I must confess that I tweaked the system to speed up the weight loss. First, on the fast days I only eat between 50 to 200 calories (not the 600 allowed for men). I also do heavy cardio on the fast days (sometimes up to two hours) and lighter cardio on my feast days. Now that I am at my ideal weight I'll probably lighten up the workouts and eat the full 600 calories on the fast days (or only fast once a week). Losing weight this fast is probably not safe or healthy, but it's what I did. I think that following the diet more strictly would also have brought results, just slower.
I really like this diet since 5 days a week I can eat whatever I want (within reason) and frankly I am just not willing to give up chocolate, chicken wings, chips and salsa, and beer. I've tried other systems (such as "I Can Do This Diet") without any real or lasting effects (normal yo-yo effects). But this one worked for me.
Background info: I am a 51 years old male, and a little over 6 feet tall. I've been stuck at around 200-215 lbs for years even though I go to the gym somewhat regularly and I eat mostly healthy food. I teach for a living.

I started the Fast Diet on Jan. 5th 2014 so it's been just over a year now. I have found it to be the easiest diet I've ever been on. I could never stick with any diet for more than a few months before and I've tried everything else in my life. I'm 57 and have been on and off of diets since my 30's. Always ended up gaining the weight back plus more. I can truly say this is something I can do for the rest of my life! I have lost 31 lbs which doesn't seem like a lot but everyone thinks I look like I lost 50-60 lbs. Unfortunately I didn't take measurements like they suggested but I wish I had because the difference in inches would be much more impressive. I feel like I have kept all of my muscle which weighs more so maybe that's why I look like I have lost so much more. The lesson here is if you decide to try this take the measurements first. I used to be a size 16. Now I am 10-12 depending on the brand of clothes. There is no measuring or constantly obsessing about food every day. Two days a week I stick to 500 calories. The other 5 days I don't think about it at all and just eat whatever I want. I did not exercise at all! I'm thinking I will add exercise now since I feel so much better. I only plan on losing another 10 lbs. I don't know how long it will take but I'm not worried about it because I plan on doing this for the rest of my life. Once I lose that last 10 lbs. I will begin the maintenance phase of only one fast day. I will say that in the beginning it's a little hard but I listened to the book every fast day for the 1st six months and that helped a lot! Each time I listened I picked up on something I missed that would give me encouragement and motivation. I still enjoy listening to it again occasionally. Bottom line is TRY THIS AND DON'T GIVE UP!! IT GETS MUCH EASIER!!
