This book provides recipes and suggestions for a low calorie diet rather than true IF. In order for you to get the benefits related to IF, it has been shown that you need to truly fast (eat essentially 0 calories during your fasting window). If fact the studies mentioned by the author did exactly that...restricted all feeding during a set window. The diet mentioned here does works because it reduces calories. But the benefits of IF and insulin sensitivity, based on studies, will not be obtained for the long term by doing this diet. Also another point is that the author says to avoid refined carbs which is true. But in many of the recipes there is sugar added. This is in many ways worse. The insulin spikes from this alone are huge. Dr. Jason Fung's book on Obesity is a great reference for fasting. I was really hoping that this book provided more information on IF for me, especially given the review, but it's not a true guide for the IF lifestyle.

He does like to use 1/4cup of every thing. Especially 1/4 cup of salt or 1/4 cup of pepper. Really! Lots of sugar in lots of recipes
