Almost quit
The middle became pretty tedious but the ending almost made up for it. Don’t like so many flashbacks with lost fiancées. Also don’t like men lethargically walking into weddings they don’t want. A little witty repartee would have saved it. A disappointment compared to the wicked Scot story. That one was fun.

Healing Power of Historical Highlands
Julia London really knows how to pull on a reader's heart strings! This is a story that will make you cry just a little near the end. Both of the main characters have suffered tragic losses of their first loves. Years later they still haven't learned to leave the past behind them and move on. Thankfully the chemistry is electric when they are together and they bring each other from the brink of despair.
There are many contemporary stories out there that have similar themes. It's refreshing to see the healing power of love revealed in a historical romance with a dashing (and obviously brooding) highlander.
Derek Perkins was amazing as usual with his varying unique vocalizations for each character. I can't wait for the next book by Julia London and narrated by Derek Perkins!
