Publisher's summary

Kait Winchester inherited a special gift from her Arapaho ancestors: She can heal with her touch. And there is no one she would like to get her hands on more than the super-sexy SEAL who seems determined to ignore their off-the-charts chemistry. When the wounded warrior finally seeks her help, she’s ready to nurse him back to health…and into her bed.

Navy SEAL Lieutenant Marcus "Cosky" Simcosky is no stranger to hot water, but recent events have boiled over into one hell of a mess. His team is under investigation for a hostage rescue gone wrong, a crazy female stalker is on his trail, and the last few bullets he took just may sideline him for the rest of his career. The kicker? The one woman who can help him get back on his feet - and has haunted his fantasies for years - is his teammate’s sister. He’s looked but never touched. When his stalker targets Kait, though, Cosky will have no choice but to do whatever is necessary to keep her safe.

Not finishing..

Any additional comments?

I'm at 45% and the book is good so far but I'm not going to finishing it. I just went to Amazon and had a look at the 1 and 2 star reviews and that was enough for me. It was a year and a half or so before this book followed Forged in Fire and according to several reviewers this book has NO end. Now, I don't mind waiting a couple of months for a book to come out in a series but I WILL NOT wait a year or two. I'm sticking to trilogies where all three books are all out. I HATE CLIFFHANGERS if I can't just go to the next book and finish the story. I can see authors' losing there readers if they continue to write these kinds of books that don't end. I think most of us just want a stand alone book so we can go on with the next author and see what they have to offer. This is a real shame!!

As to the narrator: I'm not crazy about male readers but Luke Daniels does a very decent job doing the female voices. He has a very nice voice.

Second Book Better Than First!

I've been looking forward to this book for months, ever since first discovering Forged by Fire. The publishing date was delayed several times, but finally we get to enjoy more Navy Seal action. And action, there certainly is!

This book follows "Cosky" and Kait, but we also get some glimpses at Beth and Zane's relationship (from book one), as well as other secondary couples together with a hint of the relationship that could be in book three. The romance is secondary to the plot, however, and I was happy for it. Ms McCallan writes wonderful action scenes which kept me on the edge of my seat.

Luke Daniels is a brilliant narrator for this. As much as I enjoyed Angela Dawe's reading of the first book, Luke Daniel is even better. Worth a credit? A big 'yes, indeedy!' from me. Don't dither! Go, buy now!

Blown away

Would you listen to Forged in Ash again? Why?

I have just finished it for the first time, and have promptly started at the beginning again.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Forged in Ash?

There is too many, the cohesiveness of the characters, the cadence, the relationship between the team - I just love this. Yes it's a romance but boy, there is more here than *just* a romance (or two!). I have already downloaded book one, as I have listened out of order and I don't care about that, they will happily stand alone as well as in a series.

What does Luke Daniels bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

As an avid reader as well as a huge fan of audible books I know I'm on to a great writer when I hear it read to me. I will happily put my hand up and say that so many of the writers I've discovered in the past two years are because I avidly follow books that Luke Daniels narrates. He is my "go to" narrator.

Luke Daniels doesn't just read the book to you, he "performs" the book. He breathes life and light into characters, taking them from their physical one-dimensional ink on paper form and breathes life into their souls to create characters that become apart of you.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I couldn't do that justice but I'm glad for the question - does this mean this book might become a film? - nice!

Any additional comments?

Thanks Audible - I get through my days so much easier with your books and I am sooo happy I discovered Luke Daniels! You sell me books I'd probably not normally look at because he is reading them and I know I'll be getting a red-hot go and meeting any book in it's best light if he is reading it...

Really good addition to the series :D

4-4.5 stars

This was a really good story. I really liked both Kait and Marcus. The romance part of the story ends in a happy ending but the action plot is still ongoing and it looks like it wont be concluded until the end of the series. I will say that it's been 9+ months since I read the first book and I barely remembered it...this book does good at reminding the readers of what happened previously For people that haven't read book #1 I think there could be some confusion but it wouldn't be too bad.

Kait is half Arrapaho and is the sister and daughter of special forces men. She grew up with one brother (Aidan) and recently discovered a half-brother (Wolf). Kait has also discovered a healing power in her. It only works part of the time but she was able to use to to heal Aidan when he was seriously injured and looking at the possibility of no longer walking.

Marcus is special forces and lives for his job. His teammates are his brothers and he'd do anything for them. He' swore off anything serious with women because he can't see any woman wanting to deal with the risk and worry that comes with being involved with someone in special forces. Marcus met Kait 5 years ago (when Aidan was in the hospital) and knew from the first instant that the strong attraction between them was his kryptonite...because of this he's made a noticeable effort to stay far away from Kait.

Marcus was hurt in book #1, Forged in Fire and the gunshot wound to his knee isn't healing well at all. The doctors aren't happy about it and think he will need more surgeries and even then won't be fit enough to rejoin his team. Aidan approaches Marcus and tells him about how Kait has a healing power that was what healed his horrible damaged spine years before. Marcus isn't sure if he believes Aidan but ends up being desperate enough to call Kait to see if her healing can work. While this is going on, Marcus and his team are being questioned about the events in Forged in Fire but since much of what happened has been covered up and seems to be the stuff of conspiracy theorists wet dreams, things aren't going too well for them.

Marcus goes to Kait's place for the healing but the major attraction between them causes some issues and things go too far. Marcus freaks and therefore has a big bout of relationship dumbassedness, hurting Kait in the process. Unknown to him, Marcus had a tail when he went to Kait's place and it ends up bringing Kait into their issues....putting her in the line of sight of a crazy woman and the men trying to keep the conspiracy quiet. Things between Kait and Marcus get worked out along the way and there's a lot of action to keep things interesting. The story actually began focusing on the romance but as the action started, the plot seemed to focus more on the action than the romance. Not in a bad way though...there was still attention to the romance, it just was done in a way that worked with the action (and not in a way that makes you wonder how the couple found time to have sex in the middle of a firefight or some crap like that). Things work out so that Marcus and Kait are happily together at the end (and I Liked how Marcus connected with her powers).

This was a really enjoyable story. I really liked Kait and Marcus. Thier story was very good and I liked the characters and the way things played out. The romance did get concluded by the end but the action plot looks like it'll continue through the whole series. That's cool though because I'm planning to read more of the series. Overall, this was a really good story and I'd recommend it (after book #1). :)

Trish McCallan is Exceptional - I'm in Love !!!

Any additional comments?

I love book series that revolve around each member of a Seal team and this one delivers perfectly. There's just enough suspense mingled in with the humor and personal relationships. The characters are lovable and the good guy always gets the girl (love happy endings.) I would recommend this book to anyone who loves romance books and those big handsome, hunky and ready to defend Seals. This book is Hot romance/action and Suspense at it's best! Luke Daniels narration had me drooling over the Hot sexy Seals so i hope he is the narrator in the next book. Such a sexy voice...

In the second Red-Hot SEALs series, we pick up after book one with Cosky still not healed from being shot. While the rest of the team is looking for clues into the near hi-jacking and kidnapping, Cosky is doing his best to sear clear of Kait, who he has been avoiding for the last 5 years. However, when he finds out that she was able to heal her brother's spine, he decides to give it a shot. Their mutual lust hasn't waned in 5 years and things get hot quickly. This book continues the story from book one and the team finds out more about the scientists and what they were working on. New players are brought in and the story just keeps getting more intriguing. Can't wait for Rawls' story next...

It gets even better...

If you could sum up Forged in Ash in three words, what would they be?

Action packed passion. Nah, that doesn't come even close. Sorry three words are just not enough, no way!

What other book might you compare Forged in Ash to and why?

I can't compare it to any other book because it's unique. I've not read another with the same story line and so far, you think it's going to go one way and then "nope" not going there... it takes you somewhere else completely different.

Have you listened to any of Luke Daniels’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is my first Luke Daniels narration and I loved him. I thought he really completed the story. I really loved Trish's first one of this series, "Forged in Fire" and although the female narrator was very good, I feel it would have been even better had it been read by Luke Daniels.

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed book one so much that I thought I might be expecting too much of this second one. I'm very happy to say that I found it was even better and know that book three is going to be just as juicy. Trish continues where she left off in book one which means it's best to read/listen to them in order.

In this one we get more insight as to the waves created by the bad guy's actions, meaning that all actions carry consequences, some good, and in this case very bad. By waves I'm talking about Gillian (no spoilers, don't worry).

At times, depending on the interaction between characters I think I have a premonition into the next book, but NO I DON'T, I don't have a clue cause Trish just goes along and mixes things up for me, which is fine, cause I'm liking where she leads even better.

As you can see I'm not one for "spoilers" so if you want to know what the heck I'm talking about you'll have to listen to this book.

Once again I am in awe of Trish's talent for delivering a "heated" romance filled with action at every corner and at so many different levels, literally! It's the kind of action a guy would like or an ex-tomboy like me would, but I don't think it's overdone in the sense that other women would find it boring and too much. The action is so well written, it just adds to the climax. She really is good at it and I really do think she has done a wonderful job.

I hope book three doesn't take so long to come out in Audible as I'll be forced to read it on Kindle or paper, which I don't have a problem with but this way I get to also listen to Luke Daniels act out the scenes for me and make it even more amazing.

Great work both Trish and Luke. Thank you!!!

GREAT Series, wait for complete set, CLIFFHANGERS!

I love this series. Completely! I've listened to Forged in Fire and Forged in Ash so many times I've lost count. But let me just warn everyone. As much as I am in love with the series and this authors ability to mix action, a little romance, and just the right amount of sci-fi. She is HOOOOORRRRIIIIBBBBLEEEE at not continuing the series on any sort of timeline. I feel like I should be waiting for the sequel of a movie. The release dates keep getting pushed back and then last I checked, she changed the date for the next book to : date to be announced. So if you love amazing books these are totally for you. But wait until the whole series is released until you get started or you'll just be frustrated.

first was better

umm... I could accept the psychic abilities in the first 1. but healing powers strong enough to instantly heal and bring somebody back from near death. come on! the storyline minus this tomfoolery is good enough to stand on its on merits. the only reason why I'm moving to book 3 is because I need to find out how it ends. Wonder what superhero power will show up in the next book... it's like a bad version of x-men.

Cosky and Kait's Story within the story

Loved this second book in the Red-Hot SEALS series. The fact that some of the characters have special "gifts" is one of the defining components of the stories. It winds a love interest in with a mystery involving men with special ops credentials to make for a very attention holding story. Anxiously awaiting the next one in the series.
