Publisher's summary

Jodi Angel's new collection You Only Get Letters from Jail comes at listeners "with a voice dripping with sweat and Schlitz” (Esquire magazine). These moving and beautifully written stories follow young men caught in the confusing space between boyhood and adulthood, in situations that nobody can possibly prepare you for: Your first trip to a bar, only a day after your mother is found dead from a drug overdose; your estranged mother refusing to leave a stranger’s house on a road trip; your father’s prized Corvette - the one you’ve always wanted - being stolen by his beautiful new employee, right off his used car lot.

Strange collection of short stories...Disappointed

I bought this because I saw it on a list of recommendations for reading after "Gone Girl." I don't know what the relation is supposed to be, but I didn't care for the book and so I will not be reading anything else on that list. They weren't terrible stories, but they were like ghost stories we told as children compared to anything written by Gillian Flynn.

Strange mash up of stories

Bizarre compilation of stories, with no real endings. Was slightly disappointed. Not my cup of tea!
