Publisher's Summary

As he prepares to deliver the State of the Union address, the president of the United States is convinced the Islamic State is on the run, about to be crushed by American forces once and for all. But New York Times foreign correspondent J. B. Collins tells the president he's dead wrong. With the Middle East on fire, the Israeli prime minister dead, and Amman in ruins, Collins fears a catastrophic attack inside the American homeland is imminent. He argues that only an all-out manhunt to capture or kill Abu Kahlif - the leader of ISIS - can stop the attack and save American lives. But will the president listen and take decisive action before it's too late?

Book 3 in the J. B. Collins trilogy

WOW! I do not know what to say. The first two novels in this trilogy had much less of author Rosenberg's Christian theology than most of his earlier books. Without Warning is a superb suspense thriller like Third Target and First Hostage, but at its heart it is a novel about, and which celebrates, Christian theology. Some people object to such novels so they should beware.

Protagonist J. B. Collins, an atheist, is a NY Times reporter who gets an interview with the leader of ISIS (ISIL) only to be taken captive and then released in Third Target. In First Hostage the US President is captured by ISIS and J. B. Collins in in the group that rescues him. In Without Warning ISIS goes after Collins' family in Maine killing his mother and his nephew and gravely injuring his sister-in-law and his niece. Collins' brother encourages him to read the Bible and ultimately he becomes a Christian. He sets out to find the leader of ISIS who has issued a fatwa calling for his death. I do not recall ever reading or listening to a novel with such an ending as Without Warning.

As a suspense thriller Without Warning is an outstanding novel fully earning 5 stars. Narration by David de Vries is also superb.

- Wayne "I love espionage, legal, and detective thrillers but listen to most genres. Very frequent reviews. No plot spoilers! Please excuse my typos!"

wow, no, WOW.
I believe this is the best of all of Joel C Rosenberg's books, and I've listened to all of them.
Everything Joel did was brilliant. Just when I knew where he was going, just when I knew what had really happened. . . he didn't, it didn't.
Brilliant, and thank you Joel C Rosenberg
