Publisher's summary

In number-one New York Times best-selling author Rosamunde Pilcher’s Wild Mountain Thyme, a woman learns to forgive her ex - and herself - when she joins him on a journey where she’ll discover love is always a possibility.

Oliver Dobbs was a writer first and a man second. To him other people were tools. Even though he had broken Victoria Bradshaw’s heart once, when he arrived on her doorstep with a two-year-old son, she found she could not refuse him, and the three of them set out for a castle in Scotland. There, Victoria meets the new laird and finds her crushed spirit awakening.

Another Pilcher pleasure

I’m such a fan of this author. Even though predictable in nature, one falls in love with the characters including the beautiful countryside. The narrator was so pleasant and easy to listen too.

Beautifully Written, Weak Heroine

As with all of Pilcher’s books, this story has a lovely setting and is beautifully described. I was very bothered by Victoria’s willingness to allow herself to terribly treated and the other characters’ tacit consent to the verbal abuse hurled at her.

Beautiful story of Scotland

I loved the character of Victoria and John but found Oliver a total jerk! The descriptions of Scotland were lovely.

A Comfortable and Easy Listen

As a fan of Rosamunde Pilcher I loved this story. This was the first work of hers I read over 30 years ago. The narrator is amazing, capturing all the emotion and different voices perfectly.

An interesting tale

I found the story quite interesting. The author did an excellent job of explaining the character of Oliver, what drives him and what he is all about. While I did not like him, I thought he was very accurately portrayed. As far as the heroine of the story, I absolutely understood why she kept accepting Oliver. When you have no-one, you give up a lot to have someone, so her actions were completely understandble. The narration was great.

Dated and sexist.

Let me start off by saying that I’m well aware that the author is from an entirely different generation and has passed away. I’m a huge fan of her longer books - Coming Home, The Shell Seekers, Winter Solstice, etc.

This one? Good. Heavens. I’m rage listening to this book out of sheer perversity. Victoria is the ultimate fainting flower of BS. Lets the bad guy waltz back into her life because she’s “helpless” and “wants to”. Then has absolutely no problem with just taking off with Mr. Charming and taking care of his recently abducted child. Girl, you have a job and a life. Tell this idiot to get stuffed.

Oliver is a criminally abusive a**hole narcissist drunk who ought to be arrested for parental kidnapping and sexual assault. No means no, my dude.

The secondary characters are bland enough to not be completely aggravating.

Not her best, not even her top five. Will be returning.

Delightful read

While some plot aspects are a little implausible, Rosamond Pilcher never fails to develop characters who come fully alive and who evoke caring in the reader. Her scenes of Scotland, too, are in trancing. I thoroughly enjoyed this and every Pilcher novel I have read. Excellent reading as well. I am a late comer to listening to books but I have happily discovered that different accents and nationalities can be even better understood through hearing than through simply reading on the page.

Another lovely story by RP

The ending of the story is predictable but the getting there is so engaging. Lucy Peterson’s narration is wonderful!
