Publisher's Summary

Some loves transcend time. Some loves were never meant to be. Some loves are cut short by the evil of others. When Sheriff James Tolbert and his fiance were killed by a malicious rancher and his cutthroat minions, nobody could expect that the very passion that fueled their love would be the same passion that fueled ghostly revenge. When grave robbers unearth Sheriff Tolbert's tomb searching for Old West relics, a vengeful spirit is unleashed on a small Texas town hellbent on revenge. If those responsible couldn't be made to pay, then their progeny would, and they would pay in the most bloody and horrific manner the spirit could dream of. Can modern day law enforcement stop a spirit destined to fulfill an oath made in death? Even when aided by a Texas Ranger and UCLA Paranormal Investigators, how can they stop something that is already dead and buried?

If you love ghost stories, this book is for you!

What did you love best about Whispers?

I thought that Whispers was a great book! A friend referred it to me and I am glad that he did. The story moves along at a nice pace that keeps you interested. The characters are well thought out and are very believable. There was not one character that did everything, solved everything or put everything together. Each character (even the bad guys) brought something to how the story evolved. And the ghost? Absolutely terrifying!

What did you like best about this story?

This book was fun to listen to while I was driving. It had its scary moments as well as downright funny scenes that made me laugh out loud, which, of course, made the person in the next car look at me funny. Apparently, I have a loud laugh.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene actually had nothing to with the "ghost" aspect, but rather the humorous. Deputy Denise is picking up Bobby Bridger at the request of the sheriff. Her initial reaction of having to follow the tall tree-man into the scary dark hole was hilarious! Especially since she is supposed to be a tough, no nonsense deputy.

If you could take any character from Whispers out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Bobby Bridger. Tall, armed and deadly...Need I say more?

Any additional comments?

The narrator did an excellent job at voicing each character, even the females. There was a definite distinction between each voice which made the characterization easy to follow as to who was talking.

A Great Ghost Story!

I am not usually a fan of horror books, but I was given the opportunity to try this one and I said, why not? I have to say I am so glad I did. This story is a love story masquerading as a ghostly revenge story. Well, that might be overstating it, but there is a very touching love story at the core, mixed with a great ghost revenge story. Very solid character building, an interesting plot that makes you want to keep reading, and a damn scary ghost! What more can you ask for in a ghost story. Lets just say that some people had it coming and get what they deserve. I recommend this for fans of dark fantasy and horror. Aaron Shook is a decent narrator. He's not Michael Kramer or Luke Daniels, but he does a good job of keeping the story moving and keeping the reader engaged.
